And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

The true footy guys on youtube were rapt with Sam Allen pick. Saying he is Finn O'sullivan 2.0. Says he can be a great one.

If I had a dollar for every time Dylan Alexander said the words "Hybrid Athlete"....

He should be, because that's not the equation.

Banfield was a F/S and got bid on at pick 40+ he would have cost us nothing.

So the true comparison here was
Banfield + whatever we could trade pick 29 for, vs Allen.

I would be very surprised if we couldn't have got a F2 for 29.

I was assured by many on here that our midfield would be addressed with the IMMINENT adding of Banfield and Evans to our squad.

Can anyone give an update on how this is tracking?

Cheers, god bless.

About on a par with Duan Massey's popularity, for passing on Banfield.

But so much better than the masses faith in Matt Clarks level of competence. ;)

Crows passing at 56 - wrapping up already.

What did O.Greeves do in his interviews?

Just was himself and that was enough.

People on here are genuinely melting about kids they've never seen play before
Every year.

Then 3 years later the players the melters were obsessed over are quietly delisted after never having debuted and they never come back to admit they were wrong.

Great summation.

We have brought in 5 mature age players in various lines that will immediately have an impact for a team coming off a one win season and some of them will provide leadership in the reserves that will further develop our young talent and create competition for spots in the long term.

Three highly talented top end picks in duursma, cdt and Lindsay who can fill needs we currently have vacant and have had for some time.

An educated punt on Sam allen who if you watch his clips looks to be a very astute pick and could be great on a wing for us when he recovers. And a crafty small forward in Williams who we clearly rated and hopefully can help lift our scoring power back into the 90+ pt mark. So again covering areas of need.

I’m disappointed we missed banfield, but more because of the romance of the father/son, but if our team felt he wasn’t the right pick for us because we have addressed his type of output elsewhere then who am I to judge.

One pick by the looks in the rookie draft and I personally hope they give
Nhh a go or even greeves as surely they deserve a spot given potential upside, but given I haven’t watched their games and the 18 teams have they clearly have knocks on them that they are not sure they can train out of them.
Well said mate …now fu*k off !! You are far too sensible to be posting alongside some of these knowall tossers who squeal like pigs coz they think they understand list management .
Seriously people can whine faster than I can read!
We are developing a seriously good squad and that is the be all and end all.
Sorry Evans,Banfield etc. good luck, see ya!

Yeah this is it.

  • The Baker “commitment” and trade.
  • The Brisbane trade.
  • The Chesser trade.
  • Extending Cripps on the main list.
  • Keeping Barnett (but drafting CDT anyway, making Barnett totally redundant).
  • Extending Cole after bringing in Starcevich.
  • Committing to signing three(!) mature midfielders, limiting our rookie list options.
  • Telegraphing our interest in Addinsall and then only making a half-arsed bid assault on Gold Coast - allowing them both the time to get points and the ability to match more comfortably by not bidding on Patterson.
  • Spending the entire Liam Ryan compensation on a one pick upgrade
All potentially defensible decisions in isolation, but together they paint a picture of a recruiting team that lacks a coherent strategy or long-term plan, and might be a little too nice.

They just seem to be making it up as they go along. It wouldn’t surprise me if there are differing views between Woosh, Mini, Clarke and Massey and this is the result.

We collect future assets but then waste them. We compromise young talent acquisition by making short-term decisions. We bemoan the compromised draft but then fail to capitalise on our own crop.

I usually give them the benefit of the doubt but I’m really struggling to understand much of what they’re doing.
The funny thing about this is, the trade was actually a swap. We got Saints F2 (2026) for our F3 (2027)+Ryan.
So we actually traded more than our Ryan compo for a one pick upgrade. For that to be true we would have needed an F3 coming back.

They did plan. They just didn't think, that after spending years developing these guys, that they were worth picks in the main draft.

Deal with it.

Brisbane thought Evans was more valuable than Dev. Or they did so according to such disingenuous reasoning.

Let the ass kissing continue. They can do no wrong with you. Please explain the torching of the second rounder.
A curious decision, I agree. Clearly it was publicly thought they wouldn't match a player they had zero need for and probably won't ever play a senior AFL game for GC for years, if at all, but they were wrong.

Stiff shit, it sucks, we move on.

Happy with Lindsay.

Now please explain why we should've reached for talents the club rated appropriate for the rookie list in the 2nd round, just because they were bid on.

Now THAT would be stupid...

Is anyone really upset with Massey though? I think he's done a pretty good job with what he's been given over the last couple of years. The issue is more what he's been given to work with.

Thought 1
Allen and CDT both described as ‘freak athletes’. Perhaps we can get the AFL to include an athletics carnival instead of the wildcard round.

Thought 2
Tom Mitchell, you still keen? Let’s just tell Schoenberg we changed our minds. I’m optimistic that Dev will be okay, but Titch is a bankable senior mid with high standards and leadership. Steady the inside mid ship for a year or two. Or can we leave a train on spot for Elijah Hollands? Not sure the other names that were left on the table in a weak draft are worth chasing.

You need to learn the difference between “this might be why event transpired” and “I am a massive fan of event and glad it happened.”

If Banfield and Evans were on the list right now they might only be a 10 - 15% chance of playing 50 plus games for us from 2026 onwards, but that is more than 10x the chances that any of Cripps, Barnett, Johnston and Owies have. That makes it a bad decision.

Tom Mitchell is bankable in that he’s in the demographic of the only people who still visit a bank.

i.e. cooked old retirees with bad heads, shoulders, knees, and toes. His body is done in ways we’ve never seen a body be done before.

Sam Allen Looks as good as Robey from his highlights. Just shorter
Granted, I've only seen highlights of him tonight, be he looks comfortable at the coal face. I was surprised to see he was listed as a winger.

Just to as a sideshow to the main circus the pick 53 traded to the dogs was then traded to Fold Coast to match a bid on Addinsall
The gamble was that they wouldn’t match, given the breakdown of their list, not that they couldn’t match.
