Heard something about him spending most of a game with his hands on his hips.

There has to be more to it than that though...
Are these the same games where he's getting 30 disposals and 3 or 4 goals?

Judd and Dangerfield did that too. I get him sliding into the mid-20s, but this far is something else entirely. Absolutely nothing to do with his ability on the football field.

Obviously not the games he played well Jim... he did have a bout of Influenza so might have been just before that.

I like the kid, probably wasn't too crash hot on us adding another inside mid to the list but wouldn't have minded.

I guess the knocks on his speed and defensive transition were enough to scare clubs away from believing he can make it at AFL level...

I wouldn't be too upset if we gave Rodriguez the final list spot. Would also like Heatherton if the medicos tick off his back stress fractures and he's healthy for the pre-season, otherwise a big ask on an 18yo KPP.

Probably not for us but still think Alex Holt is worth a rookie spot somewhere.

Defensive transition/run is the big one.
The way the game is played now being a game all about hurting on the turnover.. clubs are super reluctant to draft players who can't find/keep up with an opponent on the counter. This has always been the big knock on Greeves despite his talent. Would have been a fine player 5-10 years ago. In the modern game clubs steer clear of these traits and it's all about speed and athleticism.

Then there's possibly other factors we aren't privy to in regards to interviewing and personality. That's speculation only but the clubs would get the vibe about whether a player will fit into the AFL landscape in terms of preparation, consistency, taking feedback on board, coachability etc.

When players slide past all clubs multiple times it's kind of telling.

Rate the work tonight and overall. We could have tried to bite off too much but went safe, got Dean and probably had to pay overs but then got Ison on the slide. Not sure about the 3rd kid we took but hope he turns out. Banking max points for next year when you dont know what the AFL will change the rules to (which they do every week on the field anyway). Its conservative, it locks in Walker plus Dean and Ison and we probably have collateral to play around with next year. I think the strategy of banking points for future drafts cant be understated. You dont know what will happen down the road so whilst some people thought maybe we should grab a slider, its better to be in front of the ledger in terms of points for future drafts if and when you need it. If you don't you can always roll it over to the next draft or we can package it up and jump up the draft for a player based on needs. In a very good position and we are very unpredictable now in terms of how our game plan looks whereas we were so obvious this year and got found out. Our football department has been beefed up with GW, Chris Davies, Boak and Adam Simpson. We could not have asked for more this off season based on the players departures to be where we are. For mine its a matter of game plan(s) and how long it takes to click. I feel like its a fresh start without it being a fresh start. Its a loss of proven talent on field but a massive beef up in IQ in the footy department and some much needed speed, field kicking and evenness of talent across the list. Salary cap is much better in check. GW is everything they say is and more. And best of luck to Voss hopefully he has all the support around him to succeed, but if hes truly not the man for it we have the succession right there. Its magical really.

Pommy actually rates him highly. For some reason the WA kids seem to have largely fallen out of favour with the bias toward the Vic and SA boys.

Basically said that Rodriguez was to the WA side as Dyson was to the SA side in the U18 Champs.
If you are going to get drafted as a pure mid these days you need to be very very good. Clubs look to fill other roles with late picks.

Any chance for Taylor Byrne if we used a pick in the 20's ?. I think he is the most under rated player in the draft and as a small fwd imo is pretty level with Lachie Dovaston who played in a much stronger team.

SNAPSHOT: “A powerful small with dynamite left-foot kicking and explosive speed to impact going both ways.” – Michael Alvaro
Could not be any happier that we drafted Talor really rate him and can't wait to see him in action for the mighty blues. Great overall trading outcome Blues reckon we smashed it.

Yeah so there's a huge concern about how he thinks/behaves. It can't be about speed and endurance, because his footage shows enough of it across games.

We did, but when we put him near a stoppage at either level, he wound up with an injury.

Just didn't learn to protect himself, and then seemingly never wanted to build himself into a more fluid outside player.

When we put him near a football field he wound up with an injury.

He can play more than one position though, one we could use a dynamic player in.

Bombing it to shorts. I still have horrible memories of Betts playing FF role…

That was my thought exactly. We'd have Eddie 1 on 1 with Brian Lake or someone yet we still bombed it long up in the air. Never understood why the guys didn't at least just kick it along the ground to him. May have actually been effective.

We kicked it to Lake even when he was all on his own. We just loved giving him the ball.

So that's it for the list apart from the one spot we'll keep open for the SSP player?

Still hoping EH is able to win that spot - but it'd be a real shame to see Wil White depart also. I have a feeling the Byrne acquisition might mean it's the end of the road for Wil.

It was practice for when we did the same to Darcy Moore.

Can someone explain to me how we've had this exact same problem for so long? It's literally been our biggest problem for decades. Who's behind this? Some deep state collingwood albino illuminati conspiracy?

This poster is a bloody genius!!!!

The more I think about it, the more I'd be okay if we just took Dean and Ison and get the **** out of Dodge.

Just comparing the highlights reels to previous years, can't say I'm that impressed apart from Robey, Dovaston and maybe one or two others. And of course Harry Dean. I actually didn't mind the look of Talor Byrne if we do take another pick lower in the order.

Anyway, get the points to match, get another 1st rounder for 2026, get Elijah back on track for a rookie spot, and Bob's your uncle :thumbsu:
