Not actually Brad Fisher
That's awesome. Am I right in saying that Briggs is a Bombers fan? Hopefully Jack isn't as well!

40-45Does anyone know where our 3rd pick may land after trades and bids?
If you go off Cal's Phantom it will be 41. We would also have a 4th pick at 47 but not sure anyone would be willing to do a trade for the two combined. Would be nice if Ison slides passed that Cats.Does anyone know where our 3rd pick may land after trades and bids?

Bombers tragic (briggs)That's awesome. Am I right in saying that Briggs is a Bombers fan? Hopefully Jack isn't as well!
The by-product of this that no one mentions is that other clubs close their way up the order by being rid of picks for points. If the AFL messes with it too much, this will stop. For example look at what is proposed to happen tonight. North get themselves into the first round because we want points this year and next. Essendon get themselves a 3rd first rounder where the likelihood of getting a good player dramatically increases as opposed to picks 25+. If the AFL make it harder to use the points system, lower clubs no longer get to move their way into extra higher end picks.Big difference when you're using multiple third and fourth round picks to accumulate the points.
F/S players often get excessive hype when compared with their peers, it's laziness by both media and fans.
Last year we were discussing whether we'd need to trade up ahead of the Saints to get Ben Campo for a similar reason.
"For 99% of the population, even the footy-following population, his name means nothing at this stage." - And here I was thinking that the point of reading was to learn. Not laziness - marketing.
Dean is tied to Carlton, ergo a few hundred thousand members of the public are very likely to click on anything that has his name in the title.
They run an article on Xavier Taylor and his mum is probably gonna read it. For 99% of the population, even the footy-following population, his name means nothing at this stage.
It is why Twomey gets the top 10 pretty much spot on every year - it isn't because he is a great talent scout - it is because he is being told what the clubs are going to do.Except for McGowan at The Age, the rest of the media have been pretty late to the party.
And Twomey for example isn't claiming that a bid is going to come higher because he's "hyping Dean up", it's because his contacts are telling him a bid will come earlier than he originally thought.

You are correct it is driven by marketing - but that is also lazy journalism. It is easy to write a half baked article on Dean, his links to Carlton and his Dad falling off the 1995 premiership stage safe in the knowledge that it doesn't have to be very good to get the views and reposts etc. it is much more difficult to write an engaging article on Xavier Taylor and why the supporters various clubs likely to be drafting him should be excited and learn his name.
The AFL media industry is incredibly lazy - and takes the easy option every time (see how many "articles" are just club press releases)
not claiming they are trying to influence the draft order - just they are too lazy to do the work. Too many of our so called journalists are just propaganda for the AFL because the symbiotic relationship generates revenue while the supporters get screwed. You only have to look at "wild card round", the WA in February state of origin or the constant push for a night grand final to see the damage.Oh they are - but that's because they're not interested in journalism as journalism, only as an avenue to revenue.
Ultimately - they're not influencing, nor are the trying to influence, the draft order. They'll discuss what gets engagement for now because there are very few players who any given fan-base is invested in. Simple as that.
But probably digressing too far from the thread subject now![]()
One moment...Can someone point me to the spreadsheet with the kids linked to us please? Haven't been able to locate it.
Who have we got linked for the 2027 draft?
2026 Hopefully Scotland next year has what it takes, atm no nothing about him at this stage..Can someone point me to the spreadsheet with the kids linked to us please? Haven't been able to locate it.
Who have we got linked for the 2027 draft?
really need to get this pinned. Thanks Bletch
Nothing for the investment in the programs, including the many more that don’t make it vs the few that do?Doesn’t change much if they just drop the discount to 0, which they really should. Makes no sense to me that you get a discount in addition to priority access to a player.
If they start changing the DVI or rules around picks needed to match then that’s a different story.
Could argue that priority access to talent is reward enough but it’s a fair point.Nothing for the investment in the programs, including the many more that don’t make it vs the few that do?
No need to make it prohibitive.
