Don’t think it will make a difference long term but we’d want to nail not only Cochrane next year but some other picks too.

I think that's an excuse tbh. We have put a lot of work in Krasnadamskis and BOB. So let's see what happens in RD. I think they knew towards the end of the draft that one of them would slide and they may as well take a rookie pick.

He liked it so much, they picked 2 players both within the top 35 and one the brother of a current player.

Kras is an intriguing prospect but as a rookie pick is appropriate.

BOB a solid mid would be a safe pick and he's local.

I wouldn't mind Greeves in an SPP forward role, He's a bull of a kid, just start him forward and develop his midfield craft over time (defensive transition). But I don't think we've ever been mentioned with him.

We probably were keen on Peucker, Dalton, Murray, Byrne, Noah R-T but clubs took them all before our pick.

No one that you were that keen on or you wouldn't trade out the pick, there was probably a handful they thought might be there and if not they were meh.

If we liked someone left, why would we pick them today and have to put them on the main list if we can instead put them on the rookie list tomorrow and only have to commit to the single year?

Because we don't have the first pick today.

The biggest steal of the draft apparently since the Camry Crows drafted Sam Siggins at pick 62.

Hibbins-Hargreaves, Oudshoorn-Bennier or Kickett for me. Really hope we pick one or two of them up.

Among the players the Power have done work on are small forward Zane Peucker, ruckman Marcus Krasnadamskis, forward Liam Hetherton, VFL prospect Tobyn Murray and local midfielder Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier, while midfield pair Jack Dalton and Matt LeRay could also be in the mix deeper into proceedings. Tai Hayes, the cousin of St Kilda champion Lenny, is another player Port has looked at across the year in the VFL.

We promoted Logan Evans after the draft

What should we make of promoting Evans after the draft, as opposed to Lai and Cochrane who were promoted beforehand?
I had hoped that last year was an anomaly for Evans and that the club would still be confident that he has the tools and attitude to be a really good AFL player. The fact that we may already rate Lai and Cochrane above him suggests we either rate them very highly already, or still harbour some doubts about Logan.
