I'd rather Harry Scott than Kellaway.

I think trading in Retschko was them choosing him over Harry Scott.

Same size, capable of playing similar role, similar VFL numbers with Retschko a year younger and kicking more goals. Scott wouldn't get midfield time in the AFL and have to a wing type and they probably view Retschko as better for that role.

I wouldn't say no to him though to double dip on that sort of player if we had 2 spots though but it seems like we don't.

Though they may turn out to be the true winners of this draft ... there are a lot of players in this draft that don't warrant a 2 year, let alone 3 year contract

I still don't think there is anyone in this draft that would have gone first round last year . If you don't believe me consider this .,.

A Tap dancer was the number one pick

Hate to say it, but that's a great skill to have for the AFL. fast feet in tight.

On the other hand he is a Duursma, so all good (or bad if you are a WC fan)

I genuinely think you should be pretty worried if someone doesn't match your bid.

They've spent a number of years developing them and getting to know them etc and get to pick them up on the cheap and then don't match?

Essendon has successfully matched a first-round bid to secure talented forward Isaac Kako with pick No.13 in the 2024 Telstra AFL National Draft.

The 18-year-old was bid on by Richmond early in the draft, with his ties to the Bombers as a James Hird Academy product allowing the club to match the bid and select Kako in exchange for picks 33 and 34.

That list gives me no confidence in our recruiting team in that 2018-2020 period. Thank god Clarke decided to go to West Coast although the jury should be well and truly out on Rhy as well.

Team that finished in a semi final ended up with pick 2,5 17, 18, 28, 46 and still had points to spare. The draft this years was an absolute joke. The AFL isn't interested in equalization.

Nah think everyone is thinking that because it was thought if Louis was a rookie we would have another pick at 2 but we took NRT and filled the list with the spot thst was thought to be reserved for a Louis' bid.

max primary spots = 38 which we filled last night.
Max Cat A rookies is 6, we have 3 currently.
Max Cat B rookies is 2, we have 1.

38 + 3 + 1 = 42 spots of 44 filled.

It's max 44 including 2 cat B rookies.

You can have 36-38 on the senior list and 4-6 on the cat A rookie list, but the combined total can't exceed 42.

We've currently got 38 on the senior list, and 3 cat A rookies, so room for one more (most likely Kellaway).

The most likely outcome today is that we pre-list Kellaway after the PSD and dont have a spot free to use pick 2 in the rookie draft.
