Vasili interviewing 1st generation Greeks n Italians was always a laugh. Knew he'd always get a good feed too.

have to feel #sosad for RedmanWasHere, mods took his glory earlier this year with the my boy stuff, and got in before they did for making the new player threads...

so selfish, so sad... what are they doing to our beloved community...
Seditious behaviour! Punishable by death!

Don’t feel too sad, he has all the draft discussion threads on the draft board lined up for approximately the next decade, if you’d like to discuss the 2026 auskickers

haha I was wondering where I had to go to get my fix of 2029 draft factoids. Someone needs to touch grass

If certain moderators didn't delete the first lot there would be no problem.
Some boards do have mods pre-make their pick threads to save the argument. Never really liked having every thread made by the same person though. Doesn’t feel like people that care about the players so much as having their name up in lights. And when mods have them then no one can update the thread titles except the mods and that kinda sucks too.

The myboy draft solves both issues. Perhaps we need a mypick draft for making the threads 🤔 or we can spin it off out of the draft thread when the picks drop so all the first reactions kick off the threads instead. That’s probably our best option but then there’s the risk that people get offended by over moderation.

Seems we can’t please anyone lately. And you know what follows when no one wants to mod it anymore… the Melbourne board is modded by admin.

It's also kinda annoying when you can't add someone to your ignore list because they made a popular thread that you frequent..

Or when you have to take some of the board's shittiest posters off ignore because they've been handed a thread in that myboy draft crap

Forward thinking.

And they were to be left behind lock and key had there not been a technological cockup.

Anyway.

Sorry for what you might read as irrelevant stuff pertaining to your career progression Max.

And, Lore.
There will be an end to those draft threads.

Dont understand why anyone would question this selection. Intercepting defender is one of the higher needs on our list. We took a running, kicking defender early but this need was still there.

It may have been a clear "best available" selection but he rightfully fills a need as well

Wonder how highly we rated Kondo, especially against X. Taylor. Brad said he was our goal for 36, would we have taken him in the 20s, or even teens? Maybe why we chose not to select Taylor too, hoping we could target Kondo later on. Anyways, welcome Re!
Think they passed on XT because they liked Farrow better. I do not think how highly we rated Max came into that decision. Too many picks in between for it to be a factor.

perhaps the lack of good kickers came into our thinking, or the opportunity for comparable, albeit inferior versions could be had of an interceptor

Kicking did come into it you would think. They thought Farrow as a better user of the ball was the option over XT . Max was too far back in the draft to be effecting what they where doing in the top 10.

Zach Package.

Is the Greek rule that, surnames ending in an S has the S as a silent letter?

Far from hard and fast but in most cases, yes. How the s is pronounced in greek depends on where it is in a word, typically it’s emphasised if it’s in the middle and dropped or very much deemphasised at the end.

In this case it’s not because it’s a surname, it’s just how the name yanni is pronounced and it’s happens to be barrelled with a prefix. If you put any kind of traditional greek first name into a blender with the same prefix you get the same result where you would drop the s at the end. Could be Papagiannis or Kalogiannis or whatever else you can think of at the end and the same idea applies.

How the family pronounce it is a different story altogether, they may adopt a more phonetic pronunciation because it’s easier, they would be technically wrong, but sometimes you get sick of correcting people.

Classic example of this is Jimmy Tsitas the former Sun/Sanfl/VFL player. Really his name should be pronounced tsss-it-ah-sss, but it’s been bastardised so many times he’s settled on ‘Cheedis’, which is an absolute abortion of a thing.

Here endeth the lesson
