Objectively false. 600 run shield season followed by two 400+ BBL seasons.

Averaged 50 in 23/24 in the shield followed by 1 ton from 2 matches in 24/25 shield. Not to mention multiple 600+ run grade seasons at a young age, including a 1130+ run season at the age of 19 (1400+ if you include the old colts league). Not bad for a part time, "putrid" bat, right?

Anything to counter besides that he made no runs, along with the entire top-order, in the West Indies?
You want to be taken seriously then you roll out BBL stats, grade cricket and colts stats. Firstly, he is a batsman / keeper. Unless he is replacing Carey he won’t be considered. Secondly, he averages less than Webster who already has an average of 34 as a test all rounder. Thirdly, he doesn’t bowl.

Why would we oust Webster? He batted really well against India against a really good attack. I am just not getting your reasoning.

Because he is not in the top six batters in the country

Neither is Inglis sorry to be blunt but a few wild shots in a limited overs bat doesn’t make you one. Both Renshaw and Patterson won’t play shots like Inglis did against the Windies

With all this bullshit bazball talk, Travis Head just hit a faster test hundred than any English man has yet in test history.

Rather renners in then webbie .. webbie is in Terrible form with the bat

Only way I can see webbie getting picked iis if they drop Lyon ..
High scoring day/night shield game going on in Qld at the moment. Think Lyon plays. It's been the highest scoring shield track this summer.

This hasn't got anything to do with inglis webbie in just not in the best six batters simple as that. But if you were looking at a six as a batter only inglis or webbie inglis is better with the blade you can't convince me otherwise . Inglis got into the test team after scoring tons for WA at 6 Webbie got in as all rounder after having a fantastic season in the shield with bat/ball replacing an out of form mitch marsh. But unfortunately this season webbie has been poor in the shield with the blade

But saying all that I would take webbie opening in an instant over usman atm....F*KK I would take any opener batting in the shield with the opposite hand over usman atm.....we can't risk/carry an 39 year old who can't get through a session in the field with out going off for treatment

Ask yourself this....who would the poms love to see opening the batter come Brissie ?........they would be over the moon if it's Ussie f**k there line up of pace was picked especially for our weak top order...they have planned for ussie an inexperienced opener and marnus in the top three.....head just changed the whole dynamic

The selectors have got time to have a seriously think on what they have just seen....these are the options they should be considering imo

Option 1 stick with Head pick another middle order player
Option 2 pick an inform opener renners...head goes back to 5
Option 3 stay with the same and play ussie head does back to 5

Also

Does cummins come back ?? or do we save him for Adelaide ??
Does Lyon play ??.....do we need a spinner who can't bat on a bouncy pink ball wicket ?

I think you might be over-qualifying yourself and your knowledge of Uzzy's back condition to think you're in a position to know that.
I think you're in the wrong thread, the smartarse medical thread is four threads below.
The Luke post was exactly what most of us were thinking.
But, if sarcastic personal attacks are your cup of tea, then keep it up. You have a heap of mates.

Just say that your comprehension skills are minimal. I shouldn't have to explain simple things. The stats were a response to saying he is a "putrid bat", not as a reason to why he should be picked. Show me a "putrid bat" that has a 1400 run season in a premiership winning grade side at 19. You also, conveniently (but not surprisingly) ignored his shield form over the last 4 seasons.

What does him being a keeper have to do with anything? If he wasn't a keeper he still walks in to the state side as bat. It's pretty simple.

Webster isn't "ousted", he's simply not needed, why pick him to bat at 7 or 8 when we can pick Renshaw/Inglis as genuine bats? CA obviously rate Inglis as a pure bat and he's played that role.

Yes, though, let's go off three test matches to judge two completely different players; a test average after 3 matches is irrelevant. I suppose you used to think Voges and Hussey were the best since Bradman at one stage?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised, considering you rate Starc higher than Dennis Lillee, and somehow bring in AFL references to back to your cricket "arguments".

Going by the logic used to blindly support Webster, while ignoring team balance, if Cummins comes in we can't leave out Dogget because he has a "fantastic test average". Who cares if we play 6 bowlers and 3 all-rounders.

Hell, chuck Patty in at 5!

One up, why rush Cummins back, Doggett held his own.
Or is it the lure of easy pink ball wickets.

Doggett was fine but if Cummins is fit you play him if nothing else for his ability with the bat! We played 3 number 11’s and barely a 9 this test

Holy shit.

You are really trying to make this Webbie instead of Webster thing happen aren't you?

To be fair both webbie/inglis are in pretty average form atm with the blade this season

Both are coming off injuries and both have had a slow start with the blade

Point I am making to the previous posters is that I don't see Webbie in the best six batters in the country and neither is inglis atm.....I see renners in the stop six batters as he has scored 3 tons in the past 5 shield games thats awesome for me something I have been screaming out for years from him

But as a pure batter only at six and if its between inglis/webbie its Inglis anyday for me over webbie

Sorry I didn't realise that I was in the vibe based medical assessment thread. Or is it more the hope Uzzy isn't fit to play because you think his time is up thread? I think his time is up too, but assume he'll be selected if passed fit.
