Correct on McGuane. He's very, very small and light though. So not entirely sure why we need a small forward under 180 who will blow away in the wind. Collingwood clearly didn't rate him.

Harry Arnold fits the description. KPD, 24 years old. Came through Gold Coast Academy. Hasn't played a game for Sydney though. The other I researched was Zac Foot, who's played 2 games. Midfielder, now plays at Southport (Gold Coast), but still young at 21.

We do have a habit of plucking decent KPD's out of nowhere though and with Butts being courted it could be Arnold.
Is McGuane fact?

From memory was pretty highly regarded in his 16th year.

Inside intel or you read something?

Arnold is 26 and Foot nearly 25 so both are on the older side. Was never a big fan of Foot.

McGuane is interesting. We love a Collingwood father son they don’t want.

Fairly reliable intel. I'd had word that Burgess was leaving a few hours before it was announced from the same person, and a few other tidbits along the way.

McGuane was the name I was told.

Arnold and/or Foot I can't confirm. That was just research based on what I was told which was former Swan and ties to the Gold Coast and around 24. Both of them are around 24. Arnold did play for the Big V against SANFL team this year so potentially our recruiters would have seen him first hand.

Cannot be harry Arnold as he turned 26 this year according to the lions website.

Has it? I can’t think of many recent premiers or grand finalists that played 3 key forwards.

recently more teams seem to be going with the 2 forwards , 2 rucks model (6 of the last 10 grand final teams), as opposed to the 3 & 1.

An extra ruck might help with stoppages and defensive marking options but you're probably giving up even more mobility around the ground compared to a 3rd tall forward.

in the last 15 seasons only four teams gone into a grand final with less than 4 (non-defensive) talls, and only 2 have won.

but tell me again how 2017 wasn't an outlier.

Maybe we like him because his name is kind of like Harry Andrews?

Did anyone tell the coaches Rash was supposed to play mid?

Hope not - some kids that just dont put on the size to compete at AFL level - no matter how many preseasons they complete. McGuane is one of these types
He looks small, slow, and his kick max's out at 30 mtres .....plus he doesn't protect the ball

Think people are reading too much into his move to the rookie list.

It’s purely an admin move, his contract terms won’t have changed. Whether he was on the main or rookie list, still needs to prove he’s got what it takes to get an additional year or two.

If you ignore the delisting of the last handful that went from main to rookie list, then sure. But if you don’t ignore that, you’d understand that his papers are pretty much stamped and only a completely unexpected season will save him.

Did I ever say it wasn’t? What I said is that you can win with 1, most are won with 2, but we seem fixated on 3. Even playing Burgess to maintain the structure. If we’d won it with 3 key forwards, it’d be an outlier in the same way Richmond’s was.
