Interesting. If we select Burton, then I think I’m starting to see a pattern this draft.

All the players we picked up aren’t particularly big in size, but they are above average in speed, can accumulate a lot of possessions (maybe except Grlj), and can play midfield + a second position. Burton’s much of the same with his ability to play HB. They all seem to be goal kickers, spreading our goal-kicking ability. Reminds me of an augmented Hawthorn, with our youth more focused on ball-winning ability while Hawthorn’s list focuses more on elite kicking.

I’m not sure how their ball-winning ability will translate to AFL level without the physical size, but I’m keen to see how it plays out. Smillie holds the key to unlocking our full midfield potential though. He’s realistically the biggest player we have in the midfield, so I really hope he makes it as a mid

Geish made a point that this year’s group complimented last year’s picks.
Cumming adds defensive intent , as well as another big body.
Grlj and the other boys , outside speed.
Smillie, Lalor, Hotton, and McAullife , all offer something a little bit different through the middle.
At least on paper it looks good.

FMD….Krasnadamskis is lightning fast…..

Krasnadamskis ran the 20-metre sprint at a blistering 2.88 seconds, placing him second overall, and he was in the top four for both running and standing vertical jumps.
if he can combine that with a combative nature we have a winner.

Burton is a ripping kid, you won't find anyone who works harder than him.
Very respectful, always wanting to learn.
Nothing about his attitude or work ethic would be a turn off, it will just either come down to the type of player the club wants, or whether they think he is good enough...

It wouldn't surprise me if the club hold out and tell both both to wait until mid-season draft either given there is a long line of kids in front of them at the moment.

Gourdis

Football League club Subiaco, but was overlooked at the 2007 AFL draft, despite ranking no.1 in the 20m sprint (2.3 sec), and no.1 in the running vertical jump (101 cm), at the AFL Draft Camp in Canberra. However, in December 2007, Richmond selected Gourdis with their number 1 pick in the 2007 Pre-Season Draft.[1]

He was 2.83 secs for the 20m sprint, not 2.3, the record is 2.75 secs
From memory Dave also had some other reasons he didn't make it, it wasn't the physical side that let him down

Reece McKenzie also in that basket. Think his 20m was sub 2.9 too.

back when we'd chase the dog with the fluffy tail instead of identifying quality people who'll work hard and fit into the team.
