Well its another entry into the Cricket series for BA. Always enjoyed their cricket games regardless of how I feel about the company and the issues they have had with other games and even very bad XBOX releases with cricket. I still love the game of cricket and always end up getting these. The last entry was pretty poor just a copy and paste job with extra licenses.

This time around they have had at least updated the UI, graphics a bit crisper and "some" of the game play looks updated like the fielding looks to be better animations wise in some parts shown so far.

Who knows what the simulation aspect will look like and there is every chance it still has that same stale scripted feeling?

Going by these videos they at least have put some effort into team management mode..

Some of the new bowling animations of Lee, McGrath and Steyn look good.

The big question will be will this be a smooth release or is the day one patch going to strike or the xbox copies still at sea???

Always skeptical about a big ant launch so I won't be buying this on launch. But I am keen to see how the career mode goes. Unfortunately it has been neglected since it's inception pretty much and now the Proteam has been the sole focus for cash.

I picked up my XBOX copy but won't get to install until tonight and try tomorrow.

The gameplay videos I have seen floating around today looks like they have really gone a step forward with this, a lot of genuine wickets , edges to slips and keeper that look realistic and the fielding looks much improved.

To be fair I’ve played a little bit now and not had a single bug which has shocked me. Gameplay has been very good for me.

The only negative I will say is direct hits seem to occur to much again and in career mode the AI batting get tap and run singles to inner ring fielders to often.

Initially I had the bug where every cut scenes the fielders would split in two but besides that no game breaking bugs. There was also a little graphic glitching but looks like that has been fixed.

The direct hits are a issue and frustrating. When batting everytime you hit it to the infield its a direct hit. And I mean every single time no exceptions. But when bowling the AI will block it and I'll have a short leg in and they still get an easy single.

Once fixed that will will make it more fun. As a spinner the keeper drops quite a few catches but maybe that's just at club level.

One of my gripes with a myplayer career was being able to just use Kookaburra bats straight away, looks like you might have to earn bat sponsors which is good. (Although maybe I just missed them)

It’s designed that way now, you need to bat longer to gain the confidence meter up which makes it easier. Thats if your in career mode.

I had a quick go with the Ashes teams and it’s easier with Steve Smith for sure than your created player on career mode.

I'm playing management Ashes and never found it got easier. Also confidence stayed red for my entire innings even when I got 50+ with Uzzie

On My career player I was on 100 off 137 balls and my 'confidence' meter was red the entire time.

It wouldn't be a big ant release if they didn't manage to have problems with the xbox update. Every game, every time.

The fielding is just infuriating. When I am batting the infielders hit the stumps every single time yet when i am bowling with a mid off and silly mid off they can hit the ball straight to the fielder they easily get a single.

This is my gripe as well, my guys won't throw the ball while the AI is back-handing rockets for a direct hit every time.

I Played briefly last night and it seemed to have improved with the AI not hitting the stumps every time. Now it is a much more enjoyable game to play. Overall playing Mycareer is quite a good experience. I skipped 24 so it is a nice jump for me from 22.

I'm enjoying bowling with my leggie, I've actually had some pretty cool wickets.

Snuck one through a forward defense and bowled a batsman.

Had a few setting up with full balls and then firing in a shorter flipper as they come dancing down the wicket and stumped.

Yes I am the same. Bowling is quite fun.

The only issue and it's really at the point where it's funny is the commentary. It is really terrible and probably the worst of all Big Ant games. It's always just wrong, just hard to describe how bad it is.

I’m really enjoying the game. Had some nice moments in career mode where Joel Paris badged me one ball, next ball again short I tried the uppercut caught the glove and just bounced into keepers gloves. They went up for the appeal for the catch and it was given not out.

Very next ball I hit a nice looking front front slog/pull shot where I had never seen that animation before. It flew off the bat and the fielder at square leg leaped for the catch but it just went over the top for 4. Looked awesome live.


The only negative experiences I have had so far is the AI taking quick singles to often and whenever I come up against WA Mitch Marsh is batting at 10 in the shield games.

Their tech debt is Xbox's or Cricket Australia's fault.
