On TV it always looks like it’s one of those empty grounds next to a sport centre.

Why? The opposition change rooms were upgraded to AFLW standard for the visiting team in 2021/22.Would the current AFLW change rooms be given to the opposition sides when they play at Alberton since the girls would be on the other side once it’s all done?

Any idea what the crowd capacity will be once this work is completed?
If the Port girls were to play a final at Alberton against the Crows the capacity of 10,000 would sell out within hours. From the link above:
- Terraced seating installed around the eastern boundary fence providing more than 1,000 additional seats, to support the growth of AFLW matches at Alberton Oval.
- A third heritage inspired grandstand, increasing the seated capacity at Alberton Oval to more than 6,000 and overall capacity to over 10,000 to cater for the growth of AFLW and SANFL home games, and AFL pre-season games.
Having seen snaffle and women's games, this seems to be completely unnecessary, but anyway.
I would hope the club is looking to host pre-season and/or Gather Round matches because crowds aren't overflowing for any other reason.
"Build it and they will come" maybe?

Pretty sure the AO is off limits that time of year due to cricketing commitments.
And we’d have no chance of taking the Barossa games given that presumably could only get replaced by a different regional venue. It’s a bit of a shame Norwood is locked into hosting those games too imo. Would love to see Prospect Oval get a shot as it wouldn’t be quite as crammed as Norwood, but the location isn’t the best and there might be other contenders. Those are just the only SANFL grounds I’ve been to besides Alberton.I reckon it'll be a hard road for Alberton & Thebarton for that matter when the camries complete it to get Gather Round games. Norwood as crap as the ground dimensions are seem to own two fixtures purely on location & lining the pockets of the blue bloods while the Barossa seems a lock at least for awhile.
Wouldn’t discount Prospect or Glenelg getting the games from Norwood. And we’d have no chance of taking the Barossa games given that presumably could only get replaced by a different regional venue.
