Around a week ago I suggested this:it doesn’t need to be so complicated
The problem - teams bundling lots of later low value picks to combine points to pay for highly rated juniors
I’ve said all along, the solution is so simple. You can only use picks in the round and following round (of a bid) to pay for a bid.
Simple. Clear. Solves the problem absolutely. No one would ever get shafted out of getting their player, they just won’t be able to bundle late picks to use on gun juniors.
It makes sense, and is basically the sort of thing I was trying to promote in my idea. I think you need to balance this though with a system that involves the points though, as the points do create a value index for ensuring teams are not just matching pick 1 with pick 18, or pick 2 with 35 and 36.Around a week ago I suggested this:
- match 1st round bid: use one 1st or two 2nds
- match 2nd round bid: use one 2nd or two 3rds
And so on. Simple. Clubs get access to their player without having to overpay, and it stops clubs from being able to use a batch of 3rd or 4th round picks to pick up 1st round talent.

Not sure if if has been posted here already but are these 2 academy tied to us?
This limit already exists. You can only hold as many picks as list spots.
Its why clubs delist players and then redraft them at the back end of the ND and RD: to open up more list spots so they can carry extra picks into the draft for matching purposes.
This rule doesn't exist currently. If you listen to Cal on Gettable in the latest episode he says that AFL want to change this rule for next year to make sure clubs take in picks that equal list spotsThis limit already exists. You can only hold as many picks as list spots.

This was a rule a year or two ago though, right? Why change it only to change it back? This rule doesn't exist currently. If you listen to Cal on Gettable in the latest episode he says that AFL want to change this rule for next year to make sure clubs take in picks that equal list spots
It was, I'm really not sure why they changed it. In fact I didn't know they changed it until last yearThis was a rule a year or two ago though, right? Why change it only to change it back?
God, the AFL flip flop more often than a tech billionnaire trying to appease a senile, vindictive autocrat.
They changed it when they cut list sizes during covid, I think. This was a rule a year or two ago though, right? Why change it only to change it back?

Will make SFA difference when allocated. You are basically looking at about 15,000-20,000 people - white and black - living in desert areas of SA. From page 191 of the Feb 2025 AFL Rules document. How do these changes affect Port ....
"The existing South Australian zones for Adelaide and Port Adelaide will continue to be allocated as well as proposed additions for large areas that haven't been previously been designated to clubs.
The League has proposed that towns within a large zone – such as Cooper Pedy, Woomera, Roxby Downs – will be in Port's zone and the APY Lands (in the north-west part of the state) be fully zoned to Adelaide."

Rumour on the draft and trading board that Pilot is one of the 6 x 17 year olds they are targeting.
Would be irresponsible for them not to , imagine Salopek would be also be a target, in fact most in top 20 would be targetted.Rumour on the draft and trading board that Pilot is one of the 6 x 17 year olds they are targeting.

He can say no and go into the draft can't he?I think it was reported here earlier Pilot has no interest in turning his back on Port, crediting us with engaging him with Aussie footy. I guess we'll see.
