As much as I wanted Tex to retire, we really should be putting the acid on Fogarty.

He coasted in way too many games this year (went invisible in so many quarters) and like many others did absolutely jack in finals.

Fog is a leading forward and they only work when we lower the eyes. Nicks has a habit of trying to get the crumbing players into the game by encouraging the kick long to the contest which is not suitable for fogs output. Cant o much if the ball isnt kicked to you. Is that coasting or being a victim of your team mates blazing away.

He played 5 games ?? How many of them were full games ??

Id love you to quote where I said i enjoyed Murphy playing at any stage during the year ??

Yes, he played 5 games, just as I posted, it’s not rocket science. And as I posted, his average time on ground was 70% of the minutes that ANB was playing, so these aren’t trifling opportunities. These are reasonable minutes and a great opportunity for a yet to debut player, that’s fit and in form, to get an idea of what the higher level is about.

Now, your moronically flippant remark about playing quarters makes it clear that you support the club playing the likes of Murphy ahead of a kid. If you think you’ve been unfairly tarnished, how about you criticise the selection and state that we’d have been better off giving someone else a go. If you do that, I’ll apologise, but I’m fairly confident that I won’t need to. Your MO is to tangent to something irrelevant, desperately trying to win instead of rationally prosecuting a reasonable position.

So I await your next instalment of nonsense.

Makes it clear does it ??

I've been critical of selection numerous times this year. Whether it be selecting Smith too many times, not resting senior players enough and so on.

Im almost certain I criticised Murphs selection each time he was selected. Feel free to point out where I said otherwise, if you can't (and you wont) then feel free to give up your hilarious crusade.

Bloody sycophant.

It was a play on “good teams don’t tag.”

Probably not the right thread, but I saw Elijah Hollands at Marion this afternoon. He had a trolley full of homeware items. Might have signed for a SANFL club? Haven't seen it reported anywhere.
WaynesWorld19 looks like the homewares are better in adelaide too.

So exactly what point were you trying to make when you posted the below?

In the 2.5 total games he played in a forward pocket ??

There's no doubt we missed opportunities this season. But what im suggesting is sticking the kids in a forward pocket instead of Murphy would really have made any difference to the careers of Dowling or Edwards.

I look at the selection of Smith, when Edwards was in great form in the 2s as the biggest miss. Ease the kid into the side off a back flank where we moved him in the SANFL side.

With Dowling, I would have loved to see us play him at half forward/wing when Tex was rested rather than waste time with Burgess. Maybe even give ANB a week or 2 off, and Fogarty when he was so clearly hampered with the shoulder

Unfortunately our coaching staff are so wedded to structure that we couldn't possibly have done it.

OK - On paper which Forward line would you prefer next year, which looks more dynamic?

Rachelle - TT - Keays
ANB - Fog - Tex

Rachelle - TT - Rankine
Keays/ANB - Fog - Ah Chee

I think 5 games for Edwards up forward with a couple of midfield runs would have been extremely valuable to him. I know we played him at half back in the SANFL, but surely he’s played ahead of the ball in the past. Plus we’ve got on-field leaders that direct him during the game. Smith’s games also a waste, particularly in finals where we played 8 defenders in the 23 because we again failed to expose depth during a finals bound season. Surely we could have played Cumming in his best role and given a kid a run on the wing. Even Jones would have been better than Smith.

With Edwards id rather have played him where hes comfortable, I mean we made the point of moving him back so why not play him when he shows a fair bit.

But its a fair point you raise.

Obvious it’s B, but it comes at the cost of losing our best contested ball winning midfielder. We can only afford to rotate Rankine through the forward line. All of Dawson, Rankine and Soligo are capable goal kickers that should rotate through that half forward spot. And all bring a different skill set, so would be hard to match up on on the fly. Throw Curtin into it and we’re causing real problems for oppo coaches box.

It would if we only thought like that
