Training Saints preseason 2026

SOSOS and Ryan average 13 and 16 games a year respectively over their careers and are getting closer to 30yo. If either play a full season for us at any stage it will be a bonus.

Thankfully Caminiti and Tauru ought to both be more ready for the responsibility next season, and maybe even Keeler as a possibility- plus Dougal, in between injuries- while up forward we’re overflowing with options, so it’s not like we’d really miss Ryan if he wasn’t available.

Thankfully Butler seems to be up and about, as he’s about on par with Ryan, and they’re probably competing for one spot, so hopefully we’ll have at least one of them available at all times.

I think to a large degree that has been our issue for a while - having someone pressing to come in and fill a role. In the past if someone got injured we were scratching around for a half reasonable replacement. Now we are looking at good players missing out on selection! Butler is no star, but if he is the one getting called up to replace an injured Ryan, we are in a much better place than we have been recently!

We had really good depth across most areas under Ratten in particular (hence being one of the oldest teams on average and our cap being full-to-the-brim), but as we’ve shed so many experienced guys and replaced them with kids in the years under Lyon, our depth has been exposed more by the year.

Under Ratten and to a lesser extent under Ross in his first year back if we got an injury we had a 23yo with 50 games under his belt to being in and play a role, whereas the last two years in particular, if we got an injury, we were bringing in an 18 or 19yo with 0-10 games experience.

Which is why I’m certain Ross was an upgrade on Ratts. No way would Ratts have had us that competitive most weeks with all the kids that have been running around under Ross.

He had us winning a similar number of games with much more experienced teams across all lines. Give Ross those teams and we’d have been winning at least every other week.

In the absence of any training reports from our track watchers today, I had to get my fix another way - by watching the fourth quarter ( again!!!) vs the Dees.
So, so good!
😊 😍

I watch that quarter, the Carlton 24' game ( Higgo wins it) & the Geelong game ( Garcia runs down Holmes)
FREQUENTLY!!! :D

You pricks need to get out of Victoria and go to rural Japan

Ya'll probably thought Mitchito rode here on the back of Godzilla
Damn straight.

I for one don't want to hear the opinion of anyone that hasn't spent several winters in Yakutsk either.

Yep, we knew….we have a brand new Doc- absolutely top of the class with enormous experience

Apart from the two million dollar goals from the Nasiah, which was your favorite goal?

Bronze: Sharman's casual roost from 50
Silver: Hill's boundary line dribbler
Gold: The Higgins free

Underrated watch: Beating Port in round 4.

The huge start. They come at us in both the second and third quarters. We kick back out abit.

They then dominate the first 2/3 of the last quarter. Kick the first 2. But throughout that period Caminiti is standing tall down back. Wilson with some major defensive acts.

Then the goal from Sinclair via a broken play and THAT Collard mark to seal it.

🤩

That’s like asking me to choose who is the favourite of my kids!

It is difficult to write a report when there is a lot going on. Some players still haven’t been allocated numbers and players are interchanging bibs all the time. The ground is crowded with rehab taking up a quarter of it. Max K had to negotiate some space in a corner to practice passing and kicking for goal on the run. There are players doing laps.

TDK, Max K and Clark looking ok in rehab. Barratt also in rehab with no apparent injury. I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys move into the main group soon, conservatively after XMAS. Stocker walking laps which appears to be his modus operandi DI for training.

Not sighted JSOS and Dodson and possiblyMACRAE who I haven’t seen at all yet.

I housesat at the Docklands appartment of a couple of the girls who worked there about 20 years ago, while they went over to Vegas Rhinos to work for a few months.

Certainly made getting to the footy easier!

They had to come back early tho because my mate (who was the one who knew them and I was staying with) was gambling away all his pay, and wasn’t able to pay the rent, so I then had to move to a mattress on the lounge floor for multiple nights a week, once they returned.

Good times.

One of them was Penthouse Pet Of The Year the following year, so I like to think it was my influence and inspiration! 🤣
Fine, I’ll say it.

Name and/or year or get outta here ARR!!

Nah its not, just make half of it up, thats what I do ;)

Simple formula
1) Read what the hot topic on the forum is for the week and play to those biases (like Hammer up forward and Carroll in the backs)
2) Make a comment or two from something overheard by a player or a coach
3) Incorrectly naming a train on player as an Ex AFL player and see how many AFL media nuffs report it.
4) Start your own controversy by targeting a new player and saying they are trailing off on running. Great red meat for the punters
Follow this template when at training and people think you are a genius.

I want to know how many beads of sweat Liam Ryan is shedding at training on average.

Thanks.
