WA Junior Talent: 2026 Draft: November Update (Updated 17/11/2025)
Brisbane having grabbed a few late round WA boys lately has me interested in this. Torrent, Curtin and Evans made your top 15 a year out and then were drafted by Brisbane, I wonder if the pattern will repeat? Though factoring in Tunstill, actually the pattern has been in odd numbered years only for some reason

Anyway, I like what I've read about Spawton-Guy so far, wonder if he'll be on Brisbane's radar.

Queensland have some good scouts in WA. I wont say who but I'll at least say that they are listened to.

How is Torrent going mate?

I haven't heard much about him since he was drafted but noticed he has played a lot of state league seniors which is something at least. 0 AFL matches is a worry though. When drafted, I thought he was a 30-60 AFL game player.

Torrent has done well at VFL level. The issue is there's just too big a logjam ahead of him in the starting midfield, plus a lot of talented youngsters coming in each year like Levi Ashcroft, Sam Marshall and Dan Annable. And even amongst fringe mids, James Tunstill is the one getting chances when we have injuries.

Doesn't leave much opportunity unless you switch to another position. That's why Dev Robertson similarly couldn't get a chance here and tried to reinvent himself in the back line. He eventually moved to West Coast, and unfortunately Torrent might have to do that too to get a sniff.

Ok, he's contributing to the VFL side and the club as a whole then, so that's good.

Just saw this article on Facebook, Victoria for its size has a similar issue to WA that not enough is being done for our country footballers. I was originally a country boy and there is so much talent in the country but the gap keeps widening with lack of opportunities and when the boys do get to Perth they are struggling to be selected against their city counterparts not because they’re ‘better’ but their seems to be a hierarchy and they are at the bottom. It’s a real shame.

Some early WA 2026 tips from Jordan McArdle

We've moved into the 2026 WA group. Here is the U/17 Futures game package presented by noobermensch featuring South Fremantle's Lucas Robinson.

Already Robinson's outside game has been called into question and he wasn't included in the 25 man AFL Academy squad for the new year. Nobody could question Robinson's inside game - first hands at stoppage, tackling, blocking and clearing a path for slicker types. Those are his specialities and still a highly valuable commodity.

I think he can also be the type of player with his height and marking ability to spend 5-10 minutes isolated in the goal square.

Thanks to noobermensch for getting WA up and about for 2026.

Garrison Kenh of East Perth is a beautifully balanced, elusive defender who specialises in setting up from the back, running to link up with a mid, receiving and delivering to a forward.

His left foot is usually precise but on occasions he can take risks that he probably shouldn't, such is his confidence in his kicking.

Listed at 181cm, he looks taller and plays taller, so he will intercept when possible.

And what a lovely mover, bouncing with his right hand and kicking with his left. Poetry.

One to watch.

Thanks again to noobermensch for providing this player in focus content and do check out his Footy Stuff youtube channel for the best selection of draft contenders you will find anywhere.

Koby LeCras (WP) is a laconic medium forward who is known for his marking on the lead rather than in pack situations.

Smooth but never seemingly hurried, he can also set up team mates with a side step and a decent delivery.

Could he find a tad more intensity? Probably! Perhaps at 192cm, he's never needed to be at junior level.

But he has the class and that's what sets him apart.

Thanks noobermensch for getting a little Britain West Perth prospect on the board.

From what I understand, both Sam Swadling (WP) and Jacob Farrow (WP) have British parents. To be in the West Perth grandstand at a colts game is to know the North of England. Fair play - lot's of soccer fields up there so it's heartening to know that these kids wanted to play the Indigenous game.

How does the NGA thing work then? I thought they wouldve been allocated to one of the wa afl teams?

An update which should now make it clear who isn't PSA in 2026 and therefore available for colts full time. (Fingers crossed)

Parents and fans can correct. It's a team effort here.

A few overagers added as well. I think they will play colts. (?)

Heath Mellody is developing into one of WA's best prospects for 2026.

He is super quick and well balanced and usually quite a precise kick although not so much in this futures game.

Despite that, there were several occasions where he showed elite qualities during the match. Draftable qualities indeed.

A Claremont colts product of good pedigree. His father Martin was a triple F&B winner for East Fremantle in the 1990's.

Thanks to noobermensch for the excellent player in focus video and all the work he does on his Footy Stuff youtube channel.
