Oscar Lonie, Collingwood

The 18-year-old son of 123-game Magpie Ryan has graduated from Talent League club Dandenong Stingrays, where he played 14 games this year, as a midfielder, wingman and half-forward. He also appeared at senior level for Frankston Bombers in the Mornington Peninsula league. Lonie was a much-awarded junior player with the Bombers and Frankston Dolphins.

Zavier Maher, Collingwood

Maher had four years with Carlton’s VFL team before setting off for North Adelaide in the SANFL last season. The midfielder averaged 15.7 disposals and 3.6 tackles in his 16 games for the Roosters.

Zai Millane, Collingwood

Zai has become a Magpie - and the famous Millane’s family connection to Collingwood continues. The nephew of premiership great Darren has relocated from the Gold Coast to play with the Magpies’ VFL team. The 19-year-old represented Queensland at under-age level and made his VFL debut for Gold Coast last year. The Suns Academy squad member has played senior football for Surfers Paradise in the QAFL for three years. Surfers Paradise coach and former Collingwood half-forward Sam Dwyer said Millane was raw but talented.

“He’s certainly got a lot of ability,’’ he said. “Athletically, he’s very gifted. His lateral movement is elite. His speed is elite. His improvement this year on where he was last year, I thought he made huge gains. He’s very attacking – he’ll take the game on, he’ll run and carry, he’ll bounce, he’ll break lines.’’

Ed Perryman, Collingwood

The brother of top Magpie Harry is training with the AFL squad after signing with VFL Magpies following his fine season with Ovens and Murray club Lavington. Perryman, 25, who played 14 games for the Giants in the NEAFL in 2019, won Lavington’s best and fairest this year by “a country mile’’, according to coach Adam Schneider. “He’s an extremely smart player with great skills and great awareness, and he can tear a game apart in a matter of moments,’’ Schneider said. “He also likes to hit the scoreboard and kick some goals. It was his first year in the Ovens and Murray and he came out and played some really good footy. He’s got something pretty special, I reckon.’’

OK. A couple things.

1. It looks like we have signed Rod Ali to our vfl list. The one we had play a couple vfl games for us pre MSD

2. I really hope the squad today was not everyone, and that either some are inside, or will turn up on Wed. Otherwise I have some concerns.

Because, those I saw from this years squad

I didn't see Doug Kerr either.

Huge possible hole. Also my favs are missing. And add no Macrae and Dean performing at that level.
I'm still holding out hope that some players have a niggle and were inside. I'm not gonna judge until Wed. To let Algeri go would be horrible.

Early days. Pulled a really good squad together this year so hopefully they can cover some of the lossesover the coming weeks. Already a couple of good signings announced.

Really sorry to lose Algeri, he was one of my favourites but can't blame him for taking a better offer.
Am wondering if Riley Mason retired or went elsewhere.
Would be strange for him to give up vfl after a breakout season.
But wouldn't blame him looking elslewhere, when we struggled to play all of West. Howes with cameos from Cox/Steene (and johnson when he returned from inj)) and Riley too..
Now you add in Mccarthy

The team is going to look quite different ( keep wanting to say this year) next year.
Am really looking forward to watching the games.

Well going to a Proper State team instead of a Reserve team can make a Difference

Don’t think Mason been happy since we past on him in MSD
