Winner gets the better pick? Or loser?
If loser gets the better pick, will be a week of most obvious tanking you’ve ever seen.
If the winner (aka the better team) gets the better pick, you’re punishing bad teams. West Coast won 1 game for the entire year. They were the worst team in modern history. Why should they have to beat Richmond who won 5 games to get the number 1 pick?
All that happens is every team will lose against the better team, and get 1 less pick spot to improve the next year.
Richmond beat West Coast by 50 points in round 19. Any situation where they don’t get the number 1 pick is a broken system.
We don't blindly award the premiership to the team who win most games. We qualify teams for the right to play for the championship.Winner gets the better pick? Or loser?

I don't think teams are content to rebuild and suck for years, rather it is out of necessity because well, they suck... Or in some cases the writing is on the wall that they are about to start a slow and painful descent into sucking so they decide to get a jump on the process by cleaning house. But either way, a team sucking and needing to rebuild is an inevitability at some point for everyone (well for the most part - I'm sure Geelong may get there one day). Sometimes it's truly luck of the draw as to how long this process takes, and to then implement something like this that some people seem to be in favour of would be crippling.Increase the stakes further
The winning team gets pick 1, but the losing team gets no first round pick at all
I think you would see very, very different list management and squad selection throughout the season if by finishing bottom 2 there was a chance you don't get a draft pick. Teams would be desperate to be good and win, whereas right now the bottom sides are content to rebuild and suck for years
Just imagine the stakes on a game where at the end of the season if you fall into bottom 2 zone your entire shit season could be wasted by not getting a pick. And then the playoff game itself to avoid that situation... would be immense and soul crushing for the shitty losing team

Is this gonna be a pollWhich player in the AFL would be most likely to be caught watching pr0n during a team meeting?
You know if it were Rankine they'd be calling for his head Caroline Wilson would come out asking why he hasn't apologized to the women's team etc etc.Which player in the AFL would be most likely to be caught watching pr0n during a team meeting?
Sam draper looks pretty grossJezza or Toby Greene
Holland would probably be watching his own pr0n that he made with big H's missusWhich player in the AFL would be most likely to be caught watching pr0n during a team meeting?
You’re missing the fact that Port fans are the most fickle sports fans in the world. 2 seasons in a row out of finals and their crowd will drop dramatically . 5 years out and they will cover more seats with tarps than bums. Can anyone explain why Port get access to Cochrane despite him seemingly not residing in an NGA zone?
Since when did Port get access to indigenous players in Metro zones? I’m looking at Twomey’s article today and see no changes that suggest Woodville is a zoned area.
What am I missing here? (And no, Port fans need not come here and try to justify it). Did a rule change?

It’s a very thinly veiled leg up for nothing.
Hopefully he gets replaced by someone better, though the bar is not high

Hawthorn locks in 2026 AFL coaching panel
Four new faces join the panel ahead of 2026.www.hawthornfc.com.au
Let’s not get it twistedExactly. It's a 'soft' assistance package.
The AFL are constantly pulling levers to massage things. Us getting a first rounder for Doedee after the goal umpire mistake was an example.
If he gets bid on in the first round they likely won't get another first rounder in, like clubs in the past have been able to achieve.
So it's not an out and out extra pick assistance package, just a little bit of manipulation by the AFL to sell some hope.
Let’s not get it twisted
All clubs would offer 3 first round picks to grab Dougie in the open pool.
He would receive JHF level pick 1 offers if not more
Crows included
It’s a massive win for Port
They'll do what everyone else does. Trade their pick 5 for a first round pick in the next year + a late first rounder this year (or early second rounder) some other picks for this year that noone cares about, but add up to enough points. Free player with the points from 84000 third round picks all packaged together, you move a bit back in the order but you get another pick the next year.3 first rounders? Holy moley.
It's a long way out, but I'll play along. If he is a pick 1 and say Power naturally finish the season with pick 5, they'll be able to move up to pick one.
That's the 'soft' assistance package you've received. It's not like you'll be able to squeeze another first round pick in before he's bid on, like other clubs have been able to do.
As much as I had your club, I'm fine with this assistance package and if we were in your position, I'd hope we would get something similar, everyone else gets it.

Make out like bandits on that one.
