What? Manufactured drama isn’t an essential part of making a meal? Blasphemy.

Imagine Peter Russell-Clarke bitching about Fast Ed. What a show that would make. 😍
Don't forget the copious amounts of sfx including the waterphone.

There's really no excuse for not being able to cook these days, you just need to know how to Google. I've always been a decent cook around a few core staples, but the wife took it on for a while. Now I'm back and my cooking skills are the same but my googling skills are on point. Just decide what meat you're having, google 'easy chicken dishes' or 'kid friendly curries' or 'simple vegetarian dishes' and there's an endless amount of recipes online that are easy to follow.

With YouTube and iPads/tablets cooking has never been easier.

Recipes are one thing but 'beat eggs until stiff' and 'fold in to mixture' only mean so much to people that burn water.

Really helpful whether you are trying to do the basics or master something more complicated to watch someone do it step by step. I made pizza dough the other week and the instructions from the manufacturer were put the ingredients (30 min to mix the yeast water sugar separately first) in the container with the correct attachment and turn it on. Nothing about how long for or what it should come out like. Another model has a built in dough timer. Mine is just on or off. Came out like sticky slop. 5 minutes on YouTube with a different recipe and I was Swedish Chef.

I've been making curries from scratch recently. It's really just 500g or so of diced up chicken thigh, one onion, some garlic and ginger, a tin of diced tomatoes and a small tin of coconut cream then choose your own adventure with the spices. Do it a few times and you start to get a feel for the different spice flavours.

Spag bol is a good staple. Have made the identical recipe with Coles vs Aldi Bolognese mince (pork/beef I think 60/40 or 70/30) and the Aldi one comes out so much better.

The recipes where you chuck a bunch of ingredients in a pan are pretty easy. Spag bog, curry, stir fries. A trickier thing to get right is the timing when you have separate things on the go, like for a roast dinner. You might have 2 or 3 things in the oven then 3 pans on the stove. To get it all ready at the same time can be a challenge.

Australian long train trips.
Vs .
European long train trips.

A Travel for another time .
I've done the Indian Pacific Syd to Perth. I've also done the Trans-Siberian Moscow to Vladivostok. The IP is nice with some great scenery but not nearly as breathtaking as the TS. Also on the IP people mostly keep to themselves whereas train travel in Russia is a communal thing. Strangers sit around drinking, talking and playing cards with complete strangers. I felt bored a few times in 4 days on the IP. I wasn't bored once in 7 days on the TS.

I feel that completely. At 51, my knees have definitely seen better days. At this age, I no longer refer to my knees as left and right - but as good, and bad.
After all the years of CrossFit mine are bad and worse.

Xmas day even harder, very annoying to explain the difficulty of achieving this to the non cooks in the family. My sister in law found out the first time they hosted Xmas lunch that's for sure.

you do CrossFit? why haven't you ever mentioned that? i love CrossFit
Actually I don't really anymore. Now I'm a grey (bald) nomad it's too expensive to just do drop ins. $25 a pop. I'm just sticking to normal gyms. I may visit the occasional CrossFit gym but not regularly.
