Congratulations to the good people of Tasmania who have worked so hard to get a team of their own, and the right venue for Hobart to shine and be proud of.

Having been to Hobart many times, both for business and pleasure, I know for certain that Hobart absolutely needs a multi-value stadium like this to take it to the next level. Around the prime waterfront area, where I've enjoyed many dozens of cheap oysters with not so cheap wine, things were starting to, not so much go off, but get a bit stale. One can call ot charming" but it really needs a lift.

And, without giving too much away (though I'm a bit surprised it hasn't leaked, this has almost certainly saved a major Hobart hotel from closing its doors and putting the property on the market, with little hope. A no vote would've further damaged Tasmania's "no to any progress" reputation . The State really risked being throttled and declining into a giant, and ultimately unsustainable, retirement village, offering nothing for the youth and young families. The new stadium will be well and truly worth the cost.

Him and his cronies have got no hope of stopping this train from rolling.
They're ready to start construction the moment it gets official tick off

I actually think that's exactly what they'll do lol.
I wonder how ready they actually are? Knowing for a while that either way they’ll be finding out today or tomorrow they’d have something in place. Good PR to roll in the bulldozers by next week

When you have to fight for something you believe in for so long, when it appears you've finally got there, its a surreal feeling. Many of us started to believe in 1990 when at North Hobart Oval a Tassie team beat a Vic team in a state of origin game. We pushed hard in 2000 with a stadium proposal. Then that corrupt K%^t Demetriou stabbed us in the heart in 2009. I joined BF in 2009 & started my social media 'crusade'. I think I might soon crack a can of Cascade Pale Ale. The drink of Uni students & alcoholics. We're about to finally gain our rightful place in the national competition to which we've given so much & got so little in return. I'm Overwhelmed with relief more than anything else at the moment. Its about our kids & future generations. Not so much for us grey haired old boomers now!!!!!

I know that you were the one really pushing for a Tasmanian team here on BF for years ... seemingly a lone voice in the wilderness, and copping a lot of shi opposition (like me - it took me years to be convinced). You deserve to feel proud of your contribution over the years.

I think she also might be confused between the official AFL position now and the Tasmanian AFL taskforce report

Really makes you wonder how people like this are qualified to become politicians when you are either genuienly confused or deliberately misleading about, uh, positions changing with the passage of time.

Cassy O'Connor still droning on? What a miserable party, you can see how these kinds of people end up putting people in re-education camps when they get power.

Speaker should say "weve got the votes everything you have to add is pointless grandstanding. session closed" and gavel off lol

I'm still a little bit sceptical about the stadium's capacity to get tens of thousands of people going to it for events that are not footy and cricket vs. the politicians, but the same time, I'm actually more optimistic about the passion of the footy team and I think demand for tickets will be much higher than people realise, so overall the benefit of the stadium in these two areas cancel each other out.

I too was in opposition but generally the people that have pushed forward the case have worked extremely hard and put forwards positions and arguments that rightfully convince any reasonable person that investigates and understands the issue in more depth. And I'll be supporting the new Tasmania team and going to games down there.
