Where did I say that?

I said he's failing to execute the plan, not that he can't bowl a short ball.
That’s exactly what you’re saying.
That the plan is to bowl a short ball at the body, and that he can’t do that as needed.

Because either he can’t, or he won’t.
And won’t would be even stupider that can’t.

I'm saying he has failed to do it so far. At no point have I said he can't do it.

Reading clearly isn't your strong point.

There’s been no excuses for this. No long reviews, etc. They should be going along better than this.
No arguments from me, more a criticism of the accepted culture of pace bowlers taking 5 minutes an over just being accepted rather than worked on

It’s his 10th half century in Australia and third in four innings at Brisbane. Playing better than he did in Perth, perhaps, but it isn’t as though he’s revolutionised his own game to get to the point he’s at right now
Respectfully disagree Phat. He's able to get starts but still has the issue of judging and playing bounce on the front foot. This innings, outside a horrendous near miss to slips early in the innings, he has controlled that front elbow a lot better and played the bounce a lot better.

or yours obviously. I’ve said you think he can’t do it when needed. Which is just nonsense really, that he can’t get a ball above chest height when asked by the captain.

But you don’t care so why should I, will enjoy you having the final word.

I think your point is fairly relevant to how he (albeit briefly) played in Perth and he’s obviously made an adjustment to that.

But if he’s making 89 at Brisbane last time around - in a game in which only one other Englishman passed 39 (and he did it in reasonable comfort too at a pre-McCullum strike rate of 54) against Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Lyon and Green, he was obviously doing something right back then as well.

He DOES look very compact and controlled today though I agree

Sadly stuck at hospital for work so haven't watched but it really is Starc or bust. Neser, Doggett and Boland as a collective are way too pedestrain for Bazball.

This is where we miss Cummins. He has always had the ability to break partnerships when we needed it the most.

Hazelwood was also really good at building pressure over the course of few overs and force set batsmen to make mental errors.

This current bowling lineup is unable to build any sort of pressure in bowling partnerships.

Agreed. I was at that game though and even then I remember thinking he never fully looked in like he ever did in some of his best knocks, but the sheer gravity of the talent of the man is something behold and did a lot of heavy lifting that innings.

I don't feel that here, he's compact, respectful and on top of everything. I dunno how to really describe it. Live at the ground it's just a different feel that's perhaps beyond my capabilities to convey.

(As I type this he inside edges on to the pad in perhaps his first real blemish in over an hour haha)
