True.

Bit he’s been an unmitigated disaster.

It needs to be an unmitigated disaster if they are to get a high pick.

Sacking him now does absolutely nothing outside of offering a fillip to get a meaningless win to drop them on the draft to be out of range for a franchise QB prospect.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a judge blocked the NFL's attempt to dismiss former Raiders' coach Jon Gruden's long-standing lawsuit against the league stemming from his 2021 email scandal that resulted in his leaving the Raiders. So, the lawsuit marches on.

Can still see a scenario in which the NFL lets Gruden return to the league (specifically the Raiders) on the proviso the suit is dropped.

Giants Coaching Search Gets Major Endorsement From Jon Gruden

Legendary NFL coach Jon Gruden believes the Giants' head coaching job is "very desirable" for prospective candidates.
"It is one of the founding franchises of football," Gruden said, via team insider Jordan Raanan. "It's New York. It's Jaxson Dart — you know what kind of talent he is. You know he has the arm talent, the athleticism. I know he's a smart guy — a great competitor. I think that's pretty much a good summary of why this is a desirable job."

Several names have been floated as potential coaching candidates for the Giants, including Gruden himself.

Jay Gruden stated the case for his brother to take over as the next franchise leader in New York during a recent appearance on "The Arena: Gridiron" show.

“I think he’d be very interested. He loves Jaxson Dart,” Jay Gruden said. “If you want a guy to run RPOs and zone reads, he’s not your guy. If you want a guy to come in the building and challenge your quarterback every day, with personnel groupings, formations, snap counts, motions – a way to develop the quarterback the right way – then yeah, I’d be interested in having Jon come coach my team.”

Titans/Saints Win!

Today was a very good day.

If the Raiders lose their final 4 games, they will almost certainly get the #1 pick. Draft pick order is decided by strength of schedule rather than head to head record, and the Titans SOS is stronger than the Raiders SOS.

Only two games I'm concerned about are Giants and Chiefs - the latter on the presumption that they'll be eliminated from the post season by week 18, and hence will likely start Gardner Minshew.

If the Raiders lose their next two games, I'd go as far to start Cam Miller at QB the rest of the way.

In more positive news, Jack Bech looked great today, and Caleb Rogers gave up no pressures in pass pro. Darien Porter also made 2 PBUs.

Giants and Titans will not be after a QB anyway. Good to get first pick anyway. Gives a few options .

New players should have had more snaps from at least a month ago

Giants and Titans won't, but it's possible that the Saints, Jets, Browns, Rams and Cardinals all could want to jump into that #1 draft slot via trade. And a win will drop the Raiders to around 7th in the draft positions, which will require them to trade up for a QB, or go into another year without a franchise QB. It's a very precarious situation to be in. The only thing giving me hope, is that Brady is an extremely smart individual and I'm sure at this point he's going to be wanting the team to tank, and I'm hoping a few moves are made in that direction to ensure they don't win another game over the final 4.

More young players should have gotten meaningful snaps after the Denver loss on Thursday Night Football. Had an extended period at that point to get them up to speed. Instead they stuck with the same old vets.

The draft class actually looks pretty good right now imo. I think all of Jeanty, Bech and Rogers are pretty scheme agnostic, whilst Porter has a lot of tangibles you want in any outside corner. Not too sure about Charles Grant or the two DL, but in Grant's case at the very least, I liked what I saw from him in pre-season enough to suggest he should be a solid swing tackle next year.

Nothing is more stupid that winning pointless games at the end of the season.
I still curse the 49ers winning a pointless game in week 16 of 2016 season that cost us the no 1 pick and Myles garrett a sure thing at 1 instead we draft Solomon Thomas at 3 after trading down from 2.
Imagine a nick bosa and myles garrett edge combo that would of gotten us atleast 1 win against kc in the superbowl.
And that never happened due to a pointless win against rams in week 16 with a soon to be fired chip kelly in charge.

So I really hope Raiders lose out and get the best draft pick and start the process of getting back to being a playoff team.

Promising former Raiders RB Sincere McCormick signs with Broncos

McCormick ran for 183 yards in five games last season while also tacking on 29 receiving yards. His 4.7 yards per carry were tied for the best in the running back room, and he flashed at times this preseason, but Pete Carroll and Co. still felt that they were better off without him.
