USA AOC, Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani. The need for strong progressive voices in US politics.

One of the most ridiculous posts ever.

So you think Mamdani won by getting Trump to admit he's a fascist!!

Trump absolutely destroyed Mamdani in this exchange. Even though Mamdani is clear that Trump is a fascist, he continues to collaborate with him. What does this say?

It says that Mamdani doesn't think fascism is actually too bad. At any rate, he can do deals with fascists and even shares common visions with them! It gives Trump a massive propaganda coup.

At the same time, it confuses all those who voted for Mamdani, thinking that he would genuinely oppose Trump and the fascists in his government.

As I type this, I kind of feel like im writing a comedy script. You know, one where Hitler stands next to some guy like Mamdani who claims to be a progressive, and pats him condescendingly on the shoulder, saying: "It's ok with me. You can tell them I'm a fascist". Cameras flash. Smiles beam.

2 weeks later,Hitler has the guy arrested by the gestapo.

So this:

Apparently Mamdani should have refused to even talk to POTUS and instead be leading some kind of global uprising by the citizens of the world against their militaries. I eagerly await the military campaign launched by the residents of NYC against the US military and the deaths of tens of thousands all in the name of Ilovepies ideological purity.

....ummmm it was Mamdani who requested the meeting with Trump.

I'm eagerly awaiting the slaughter of NYC civilians in their uprising against the US military led by Mamdani in pursuit of IlovethePies utopian perfection.
You can await as long as you like, or until your own vivid imagination produces an enactment.

Because there is nothing I have ever said calling for a "NY civilian uprising".

You think civilians should be rising up and overthrowing the government. Mamdani is the soon to be mayor of NYC.

What else can he do but lead a civilian uprising in NYC?

There is nothing else that Mamdani can do because he agrees with capitalism.

Mamdani is utterly opposed to an uprising of any kind, anywhere. And definitely not in NY. Just like the entire Democrat establishment, their primordial fear is that a mass movement of the working class across the entire US (not just NY) against the entire establishment.

It is not a question of what Mamdani can or cannot do. Mamdani is a defender of the status quo.

He would prefer Trump to install a presidential dictatorship rather than a mass rebellion of workers across the entire US.

This is because Mamdani and the DSA as a whole are totally hostile to the idea of the working class fighting across the US for its independent class interests. They are totally opposed to the idea of workers unifying across industries in America, and for example carrying out a general strike to stop the ICE Gestapo, demand the end to retrenchments, demand wages that keep up with inflation, demand safe conditions in their workplaces ...

That is why Mamdani must be exposed, to millions of working class people across the US (not just in NY) as a complete political fraud, and why workers must now build a mass anti-capitalist party, across the US and across the world.

High on rhetoric. Low on achievement.

He was exposed. Time and time again he was attacked by the establishment. And people liked what they saw

With so many against him the people still decided he was the better option than lickspittles

So can people now stop posting him here as an example of one of the strong progressive voices?

Has anyone said Newsom is particularly progressive?

He’s a strong voice from the ‘left’ of US politics, which isn’t particularly left leaning by Australian standards. I wouldn’t say he’s economically progressive in any meaningful way, that’s not really what the Democrats are about - thus why they didn’t really get behind Mamdani.

I wonder - is there a bluff here, and will it ever be called?

Dec 05, 2025

NEW YORK − Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared this week New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani wouldn't stop him from visiting the American city.

Mamdani, who takes office Jan. 1, has pledged to honor the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu, Israel’s longtime prime minister, for alleged war crimes amid Israel’s siege of Gaza since Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel in 2023. Legal experts highly question the Democratic mayor-elect's legal authority to arrest an international leader.

Speaking virtually on Dec. 3, Netanyahu told the New York Times DealBook conference that he would visit anyway.

“Why don’t you wait and see?” asked Netanyahu, the conservative leader who also faces corruption charges in Israel. “Yes, I’ll come to New York.”

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, has long been critical of Israel and its treatment of Palestinians. He's drawn accusations of antisemitism for his stances on the Middle East conflict.

He’s recognized Israel’s right to exist not as a Jewish state, but as a state with equal rights for all. Amid Israel’s devastating siege of Gaza, Mamdani told the Times he'd abide with international arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has an arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Ukraine...

there's no way the coward will venture to n.y, or to any country that says they'll arrest him.
President Trump will have an entire legion of his best troops put at Prime Minister Netanyahu's disposal when he arrives in the United States. Mayor Mamdani might have the two NYPD motorbike cops from his motorcade detail.

It is unfortunate but I think Netanyahu would be feeling pretty confident about going wherever he pleased in Donald Trump's United States. With a heavy goon squad of course - just in case...

I dont think any have said he is progressive - what he is a pain in Trumps arse so I like him

Im disappointed in these comments and these will be used against him

But until then keep making Trump cry baby

I await with great anticipation your commentary on Mamdani's "achievements".
Might take a while, because you don't have much prescience.

Meanwhile your global socialist uprising movement has achieved nothing at all.

Mamdani may not achieve your utopia or meet your unrealistic standard of total perfection, but there’s a fair chance he does at least one thing to improve lives somewhat for the people of NYC.

Idealistic perfection sounds good in theory, it’s nice to have your holier than thou position I’m sure. But will you achieve a single thing more than those you criticise?
