Club Championships live stream

Starts at 7pm

I suggest this warrants its own thread, rather than being stuck in a general talk thread. But in the meantime, is anyone able to actually access the stream? I click on the big red box and absolutely nothing happens.

I see the page suggesting a link to a live stream has now disappeared from the home page. Maybe they've realised they forgot to set up the live stream? Or maybe they've taken it down temporarily while they try to fix the link?

I'm guessing the former, because if it were the latter it would make more sense to just add a sentence below the big red box indicating they are trying to fix the link.

Swans confirm on X - no live stream due to technical difficulties
A little off topic, but it gives me the eejits how the Swans' media team put so much stuff on social media and ignore their website. Don't they realise that many of us wouldn’t touch X with a barge pole, and some don't go near Instagram or any other social media site. Would it be so hard to include something on the website to that effect?

I just googled the expression "it gives me the eejits" and the only hit in the whole metaverse that came up was your post here on BF. If I just google "the eejits" it tells me it's the Scots name for the Roald Dahl book 'The Twits'. Is this perchance a quaint local expression from a teeny village in northern England that you hailed from?

My first instinct was to use a lavatory related term (that kinda rhymes with eejits) but wasn’t sure if that would be acceptable language.

Eejit is likely a word I learned in my very early adulthood (rather than childhood) when I hung around with a Scottish (Glaswegian) colleague and a bunch of her friends. Although my instinct is that anyone from the UK would understand the word. Maybe I’m wrong. Not sure.

Not sure if I concocted the term “gives me the eejits” or if I absorbed it from someone or somewhere. It’s certainly not the first time I used it.

Despite you having to look up the word, I bet you understood my meaning?

I actually didn't quite understand. I could tell you were vexed, but I was perplexed. I knew eejit meaning idiot with a Scots twang. But I wasn't sure if it meant you had the creeps or what exactly, which is why I googled. But now I see it mostly meant what it rhymes with in this particular context.

I went and looked it up too, and weirdly (on my phone) I got an AI explanation that precisely matched what I meant. But those AI summaries rarely provides sources, so it’s hard to dig further.

I also discovered there is QM Aussie term “gives me the irrits” which also expresses what I was trying to express. I’m not conscious of ever having used that phrase, but maybe I conflated it and “eejit”, which is what me of my favourite words.

I’ve also learned that eejit is as much Irish as Scottish, and featured prominently in The Commitments. It’s possible my like of the word is attributable to that film as much (or more) than my Scottish friends. Both were during the same period of my life.
