I might be out of touch saying this but it is crazy how much money these redevelopments cost. Not saying they aren’t worth it by any means but modern day facilities are so costly.
In regards to EB, is there the possibility the council might look to do a combined project with the athletics track next door?

getting higher and higher in terms of costs
but there are so many that should be redeveloped ahead of other clubs

The cost of Davy Lane was to be $11 Million and would mainly have been used by Vermont Footy Club juniors.
As far as the build at East Burwood goes it isn't with the Athletics Club. They will get their own rooms, however, the EB rooms will be shared with the Cycling Club.
If you want to know what's planned look here:

and here:

Total cost of the whole Reserve Redevelopment was $124 Million when the Basketball Stadium cost was $68 Million, it is now $100 Million for the stadium.
Footy, Cricket and Soccer Clubs have been really well looked after over the past 20 years. Indoor Sports not so well. Unless you play Basketball or Netball you get bugger all.

Here's some news for GMac, apparently the Council are looking at getting rid of the Tennis Courts at Walker Park. The council have figures that show participation rates at the Tennis Club are well down, however, on closer inspection somehow the Council have used numbers gathered during the first year of Covid.

Ahhhh I see thanks for that, sorry wasn’t sure. Those EB sports grounds get a lot of use. Nunawading BB, The cycling club, cricket, tennis, footy, aths and the soccer pitch. Agree with you on the indoor sports side of things - I’m footy biased but all sports should be looked after in terms of funding.
My question is will the council realise they’ve used the Covid numbers lol.

As a Knox CC resident this is so true.

FTG coming along nicely, I’m sure Boronia will be great while UFTG keep on keeping on.
Considering the councils previous treatment of UFTG you would have thought they belong at the top of the list.
Makes no sense.

The Tennis Club have made them aware they know what's going on. The council use every means they can to do what they want and it is usually very difficult to get them to change their mind. East Burwood wanted to retain their Clubrooms, but got steamrolled.
Any contentious plans are usually put up for comment and feedback over the Christmas Holidays or leave out contentious subjects. For instance if you were going to pull down a building in a Reserve and that building was used by more than 300 people for indoor sport, would you mention that or would you concentrate your survey on trees, walking paths, exercise equipment, outdoor seating and lighting. If you concentrate your description on the trees, etc, that might sound like a good way to get around 100% approval rating and it did.
It isn't until you see the works proposal, based on the survey results that you find out the indoor sports building is going to be demolished.
Anything on the Whitehorse "Your Say" site over the Christmas break is used to reduce scrutiny.

my partner plays in the womens team at upper gully and has said for yrs that it’s time for a revamp but aint holding breath
pretty sure all theyve done is fenced off a dog area

Agreed, how good will that look.
Best part is the parking. So many local sporting facilities have quite poor parking arrangements, it’s good to see they haven’t sacrificed any of it because they will need every space considering how often/how many sports are played there.
If Finals are played there, the business parking areas (seen on the right), could be used, areas that are unused on weekends. All it needs is a gate that can be locked for most of the year and only used during finals. There are more than 1,000 parking spaces available on Saturdays and Sundays within close walking distance of the ground.

Yes Bobby The Gully precinct is looking fabulous atm. Work is ahead of schedule and pavilion is expected to be open in February. Two ovals two pavilions two electronic scoreboards will be up with the best in Knox and surrounds. Wish I knew how to post videos on here 😊

100% mate, I feel for some of the clubs I’ve seen that haven’t had a revamp for a good 15 years - meanwhile other clubs get brand new facilities. Just the way life works I guess.
No it isn't, Clubs that get more than seems fair, actively pursue communication with their councillors and work very hard to get across their ideas and vision. If you don't have people doing that, then your club will be way down the list. What is needed are convincing arguments and logic on why it will be popular with voters. Once you understand that deep down all they really care about are votes, you're in the game.
UFTG footy and cricket clubs really should talk to the candidates before the next local govt election in 2028. The ones who support improving the ground and amenities should get their approval and they should ask all their supporters, friends, family etc. to vote for them.

Just ask the EFL.
We wonder why Beaconsfield get Premier finals……….

Beaconsfield have a great setup with their massive pavillion (might even be 2 pavilions). Been there a few times it is quite a nice spot for a good beer and a watch, up there with Carrum Patterson Lake’s pavilion.
I’m away for work in the middle east after Xmas guys so merry Christmas to you all, hope it’s a nice one for you and your families (not here to sound too nice but we are all human at the end of the day hahaha).
Can’t wait to come back for some local footy gossip!
