Bucky also noted that the kicking skills had improved for the Campo boys. Yes he still puts them in the poor category.
If we have a greater focus on kicking skill this preseason then I would expect improvement across the board and those not up to a standard would play in the VFL.

If I was the coaches, I'd be training him to go as high up the ground as the wing and then turning to run back to goal when we have possession of the ball. If they don't have one of their fastest defenders on him when he does that, he's just going to burn off whatever opposition player is going to be covering him. His athleticism is going to destroy defenders.

Then you have the bonus of him opening a leading lane for Harry or Skull to run into. We know that Harry is quick and likes going on long leads because he can burn his opponent like that.
We won't know ourselves, having Moir, Hayward & hopefully in time, Kemp/Byrne, presenting & providing marking options, taking the pressure off H & making us much less predictable.

Jacob Blight?

I'm reading between the lines and thinking it could be Brandon Ryan - but I see he's just signed with a local EDFL club, so that would eliminate the VFL avenue (unless White has committed to the VFL team already perhaps?).

There was some talk that he would train with an AFL club so it wouldn't surprise if it did eventuate.

I haven’t watched that My Blue Heaven guy previously. But I enjoyed his training insights very much in that most recent video.
Hes pretty good. Gets some flack for being negative at times, but I dont mind it. Makes him a bit more trustworthy then "everyone is flying" types. If he says they were good they really must've been good. Also, takes long videos which is appreciated.

In fairness - Ollie burns the ball as much as anyone so can't really be surprised if teammates ignore him. I like him - good young player but he's got a lot of work to do on his kicking. Probably should be doing it from the VFL until he sorts it out.

I like Ollie but he is under real pressure now with Chesser being chased and landed by the club. Ditto the HB Florent and the natural progression of a few others.

Players like Ollie were definitely ignored by some of the mids, as he is not a designated kicker. Make no mistake, that's a coaching directive about forward 50 entries.

On a wing, you need to be elite/v. good at something, speed, kicking, marking, skill, aggressive.

He will always be a foot soldier who will get games but now I don't have him in the 23

I think Ollie's value is as a metres gained guy who generates movement and panics defences by surging through.

His kicking isn't poor, just average and his features can complement Chesser's

dont know why Ollie gets the (negative) attention that he does tbh

young kid making a solid contribution

One of our better draft picks IMO

Calls it as he sees it, which some don't like, but doesn't sugar coat things and say, "everything is rosy" when you you can see it isn't.

The thing about Ollie is his attitude, doesn't give up and has a crack no matter what. Makes a mistake, but doesn't go into his shell. Watch some of his last qtrs, he is still running and trying to provide an option, whereas others have thrown in the towel.

Matt Carroll, the same, great attitude. Got caught twice HTB in one of his first games last season. Wiped himself off, smiled, but kept taking the game on. Give me guys with this attitude any day, because you know they will keep punching.

Light frame guy thing.

If you are playing at this level with a light frame you are usually pretty mentally robust, because you're almost always the smaller guy in the contest

This won’t be popular but it must be said.

My Blue Heavens, sweeping comments on Acres, the Campos and Ollie having bad disposal is not ‘factual reporting’.
Like many of us, he obviously has a bias towards certain players and is drilling it. If I were Blue Heaven, at the very least, I would follow such comments with video highlighting my statements. It’s not as if he doesn’t take a bit of video.
That is the way to report!!

As a fact in the below example, Ollie’s disposal is better than Florent, who we traded to assist our disposal. This also includes Florent coming in from arguably a more structured team.

I’m not saying these guys are perfect, far from it, especially someone like Acres, but sweeping comments should be treated as such. I haven’t seen Ollie or even the Campos for that matter ‘turn’ the ball over much in that training footage or even this preseason. So does a non-standard ball release make bad disposal?

The other example is his latest report, was the Ison discussion. He has made this kid out as being ‘elite’ in every part of his game. That is just not right or if it were, he would have been drafted in the top 10, like Dean. This is not helping the kid, as the expectation will be unbearable from people on the outside listening to him. Again, footage seen shows Ison miss a standard handball or two but he is a kid developing!!

I enjoy watching and reading these reports and appreciate the time and effort these guys put in and I feel MBH is one of the better ones but I would not hold everything these guys, that includes BlueAbroad, say as gospel. They are just like many of us, standard football followers with standard football knowledge. We aren’t always right or wrong, it’s an opinion.

Didn’t really make it up with BL. Wasn’t he a surprise trade with Gunston going back home?

Thought he was a 3rd tall but 2m Brandon & 28yo.

I think Ollie will be a good player, but his disposal isn't clean enough to be the guy we look to give the ball to at halfback. And if he isn't that guy, I'm not sure what he adds to our defense. He's not a great defender and a bit limited in who he can play on with his body type.

I think wing is his go. Can play a role, run all day, work back defensively. Langdon style. Could be one of the best wingers in the league. The odd shank also doesn't hurt you as much there as it does deep in defense.

I'm sure he'd prefer to be a play maker through the midfield or off half back, but I think wing is his go and he should embrace it.

I'm not sure what you expect. The guy is just sharing his observations and footage that he has compilated in his own free time. If you don't agree fine but I don't think he owes anyone an in-depth statistical analysis or video evidence backing up every opinion.

Same goes for anyone who is sharing training footage or reports. Just enjoy it for what it is, a casual observer sharing their thoughts. No need to attack anyone, or people might be reluctant to share.

Also, Acres, O.Hollands and the Campo's aren't great kicks, so I don't think his comments are particularly controversial. Kicking stats don't tell the whole story. There is so much they don't capture.

You lost me at disposal efficiency. One of the most obviously flawed stats recorded in the modern game.

And he hasn't made out Ison to be elite at every part of his game, just that he has a huge amount of talent if he can put it all together. 192cm mid/fwds who can run and kick don't exactly grow on trees, it's on the club to see him reach his full potential though which will be a challenge in itself.

His comments on Ollie, Acres and the Campos were pretty measured. We can't finish last in the comp for disposal / transition and all players on the list having perfect disposal. And we can't get better at kicking without dropping the worst offenders.

As said by others MBH is the best of the Carlton youtubers because he skews towards the negative he's more believable when he says something positive as he did with Ison. I don't think a random YT video with a few hundred views is going to put too much pressure on him.

Players can get better at disposal as they develop. He's still very young.

But I agree Chesser and Florents arrival puts immediate pressure on him for a spot. No harm in developing in the VFL though.

In my opinion, the worst offender is the coach who even last year was still getting the players to bomb it long to contests (where any coach can work out that they just need to outnumber us) instead of shortening up the ball movement and running it up the field in numbers.

We have a lot of players that I think have neat at best disposal like most teams but they’re made to look a lot worse with a game plan that revolves around moments and opportunities instead of system and ball movement.

100% Correct
