Imagine all the “SOS” puns opposition supporters will come up with as if this has anything to do with club rivalries.

Nothing to do with Carlton or the AFL.

It’s about a woman suffering a traumatic event and a scumbag getting what he deserves.

Wonder if this is what JSOS changed. He copped some crazy abuse when we were losing badly, some disgraceful abuse by Carlton "fans." I wonder if he changed clubs because the family knew what was coming.
I'm not trying to minimise the horrific nature of this event but it did occur to me, the several hundred thousand dollars of 'overs' on Jack's free agency contract may have been deliberately engineered as a 'war chest' for legal fees.

I definitely think Jack’s move to St Kilda makes more sense now than it did two months ago. That family would want to remain closer on a day to day basis and that would mean Stephen and Jack working together every day.

A lot of surmising here.
If it were one of my brothers...not a cent going that way.
Ever.
No excuses.

Agreed although I will add that it is a very complex issue.

They may still believe his story and that he's innocent despite the guilty verdict. I think it's natural to want to believe the best in your loved ones, despite what might be staring you in the face.

Oh ok
I'm not up on his side of things?
I didn't know there was any doubt?

Appeeciate if you Pm me, if not appropriate to put in thread. 😊

It's all public knowledge, it's just his side of the story that his legal team put forward during the trial. Whether his family genuinely believe him or not, only those very close to the family will know. His story always sounded farfetched/fanciful to me.

I wonder how long before a supporter (of any club) makes some comments towards Jack or Stephen at a game?
The details of the case are very uncomfortable reading. To go through a court process as a victim must take some incredible strength and, in this case at this stage, it seems justice has been served.

You never know until you are in that situation. One of my brother’s was charged with strangulation about 6 years ago. It went all the way to trial and $170,000 in legal fees later he was acquitted. The detective admitted on the stand he did not hand over texts where the victim told a friend she made it up to get a cheap DV house. If my parents didnt spend the money he would possibly still be in jail and have lost his business.

Now do not take from that I think all victims are liars - very much the opposite. Why go through all that for cheap rent? He ended up with the 1% who would. This stuff is very messy. But in this case you have to respect the jury verdict - it’s the system.

But people will generally help family.
