Baffling line up for England. Atkinson hasn't had the rewards but I feel he has been their best bowler so far. Certainly better than Carse.
Ollie Pope retaining his spot just tells me they are not taking this seriously. He is not a test quality bat. You simply cannot pick a number 3 that's still averaging 35 after 60 odd tests. In 7 tests against Australia he has never reached 50.
And they wonder why they're the laughing stock of test cricket.

Tongue can take wickets, but can also spray them. If Archer is tired after his first spell, and Carse and Tongue are being pummelled on a flat deck, Stokes will bowl himself till he breaks. This was always a likely outcome of the tour.

Well in my experience if Root or Head isn't working then yes you need to turn to Jacks

My read on things would be that Root is the best of those three names with the ball in hand. By a fair margin.
