Port rookie comes to mind, broke the endurance but got de-listed a year later
Its not the end all to you being a player, but its a damn good indication however when endurance/speed/agility is more importaint then ever in the game
also a chance for coaches to view players themselfs, informal chat, ect.

Was it Tom Rischbieth? <--- Correct spelling ???

Exactly people saying you can't get 15.8 are wrong. I have seen a few of my mates get around that and one of them got 16.2. He is a National Tennis player. Its not impossible you just need to do a lot of training

Like I said.. unless your in a national sports team or a marathon runner, your not going to get over 15. The most fit guys in my school would get just over 13 and some of them are currently listed in the AFL. So unless your a professional sportsman, its not going to happen.

I've never seen anyone go over 15.. so i assume its insane. I wonder what the world record is.

Not really true mate, there are alot of supreme athletes that are not professional sportsman.

  • It is reported the reigning Premiers and reputedly the fittest team, the West Coast Eagles, have more than 12 players who score level 15 and above (Jan 2007).
Thats right boys and girls :p, pitty half our team could not make it onto the field this year.

A guy I play cricket with can get over 15 although he is a fitness freak and is a personal trainer at a gym

I can't see how someone would be able to keep that sort of fitness level without doing it as their full time job (professionals).. I guess being a gym trainer is kind of the same as being a professional athlete (doing it as your job).

# Simon Black of the bRisbane Lions has the club record of 15.11 (from 2005)
# At the AFL draft camp in 2005, Tom Rischbieth scored 15.08, beating the record of Sydney's Jarrad McVeigh 15.06 which he scored in 2002, and Sydney teammate David Spriggs 15.06 from the 1999 draft camp.

Shuttle run (aka beep test)
Cale Morton – Claremont (15.2 – Level 15 Shuttle 2)
Joel Smouha – Mt Gravatt (15.1)
Brendan Whitecross – Zillmere (14.10)
Clayton Hinkley – North Ballarat Rebels (14.9)
Rhys Palmer – East Fremantle (14.8)
Scott Selwood – Bendigo Pioneers (14.7)

Queenslanders always do well on the beep test for some reason.

Interesting hype.

Can you tell me did Byron Schammer hold that record for a period of time?
Does Steven Koops still hold a record, agility or vertical leap?

Also not draft camp related as such but can someone explain this "Tan" run that the players seem to rave about?? I believe the two guys to beat in that were Crawf and Spriggs.

Jared brennan holds the running verticle leap

Dave Gourdis holds the verticle leap record as of today, beating Croads 83cm with 86cm. Might push Brennans record as well, does anyone know when the running vert leap is scheduled for this year?

Its a decent score but i wouldn't call it an elite level. I have a PB of over 16 so its not that super. Bearing in mind i do a fair few triathlons and am in training for an ironman.

Which one? I did the Shepparton one last year. But now in Canada so I am not sure what I will do, maybe an ultra marathon if I can find one before the snow starts.

The Tan is a run in Melbourne around the botanical gardens (I think). They hold the corporate races there each year. It is a pretty good run for 3 km's (or there abouts) a nice uphill for a few hundred metres and a slow decline to finish. Depending on where you start I suppose....

i heard something that he got close, but 86cm, that is one of the most insane things ive heard for an afl footballer

The Tan is a track around the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. Very popular for casual joggers aswell as footy teams for pre season training

A run around the Botanic gardens

MAP

About 3.8km or thereabouts. Nice run but too busy particularly around 7am or 5:30pm. A bit hilly, nothing major but a relatively steep rise a one point.

Craig Mottram's PB is around 10:50 or something, blazing quick.

It has been about 5 years since I have been home...I forgot it was just under 4. That is a huge time for Mott's, last time I ran it was a tad under 15. That nearly killed me, but I do prefer the longer distances.

surrre

*I'll take that back if your a marathon runner, national team member or better still if you provide proof!

I was taking the mickey with the 15.8 crap

Havent done the beep test in 8 years and would hazard a guess to say I'd struggle to get over 12 :D
