That is the longest bow of all time.

Have you had any dealings with them?

They aren't bible bashers.

From my experience they are a "religious group" purely as a way to gain tax free status to further their business interests.
I've lived near two of their "compounds" and can only describe the way I saw them treat women as a form of domestic violence (coercive control).

Maybe you only had business dealings with them and they seemed very business like. The Mormons are like this too.

How is it a long bow? People constantly say that Islam has lots of extremists, but when it's pointed out that there are also lots of Christian extremists, that's waved away as a cult, or a lovable band of tax-dodgers.

Are they not allowed to voice their opinions here?

I get that this place is heavy left leaning, but people need to be heard.
I think its just logic leaning really

Comparing the Bretheren to Islamic Extremists is the long bow.

Describing them as extremists is ridiculous, generally extremists try to force their ideology. Bretheren are the opposite, they shun the rest of the population and purposely don't interact.

Generally extremists are violent or discriminatory.

I wouldn't call an orthodox jew or a practicing sunni muslim an an extremist for the same reason.

Fair enough, but I think domestic violence against women counts as violent (for all religions which treat women this way). Even if it doesn't involve striking, just treating them as cattle for their entire lives.

As the NSW Premier made clear in announcing the changes - the events of Sunday at Bondi necessitate changes in rules around public safety that would not have been contemplated by his government or supported by many in the community prior to the massacre. He makes no apology for that and describted the current political climate as 'combustible'.

“I think there’s a general agreement, clearly from the opposition, that the temperature has been way too high,” he said.

“When you see people marching and showing violent, bloody images, images of death and destruction, it’s unleashing something in our community that the organisers of the protest can’t contain.

“The truth of the matter is: we can’t risk another mass demonstration on that scale in NSW,”
he said, referring to the Harbour Bridge protest for Gaza that Minns and NSW Police did not support.

“My views about that particular march are really well-known. I opposed it. Police opposed it. I made it clear it wasn’t consistent with community harmony.“ But the overwhelming community expectation was that it should be allowed to proceed and so it did. But such large protest gatherings will no longer be permitted.

He and the NSW Police Commissioner made it clear that the same elevated response from the NSW Police. They will now act immediately in response to any credible information in relation to threats to public safety.

Minns ended his press conference by saying it is “not our intention” to use the new protest laws against “a specific group”.

“But I’m firmly of the view that when we get to the point where you see passions enlivened to the point that it can unleash violence in our community,[it’s gone too far].
I read just now the Melb protest planned for the weekend has been cancelled

In a macro sense historically speaking, yes.

However, the safety issues for Jewish people has increased dramatically since the Israeli government began its genocide of the Palestinian people.

So while no hate, violence or bigotry is ever acceptable we can’t expect that it won’t exist and must take measures to prevent it.

Australia needs to do its bit to protect minority groups. But in the case of risks posed to Jewish people, the Israeli government also needs to take responsibility for what it’s done to contribute to these security issues.
That will be comforting for Jewish people to know.

You’re pretty thiccc ey? Can’t have any reasonable discussion on a serious issue. Your response is just meaningless drivel.

Probably because you don’t have any genuine counterpoints or anything meaningful to add.

Wow defending the PM who went on holiday overseas while his country literally burned and was forced back home in shame.
Who is defending him?? Dispute the fact most of the country was fine he still went to the sight of the fires and got abused.. showed more spine than Albo who has run off never to be seen again unless it’s an organised photo op

Some people will get a shock when these laws they want are actually turned back on them 😆 (eg Andrew Bolt)
Yep. I was thinking that the cookers, or more specifically the sovcit types are going to find the coming weeks and months a hell on Earth. Especially when police start to exercise their extended authority to act against groups other than those from certain backgrounds.

And how long before groups start looking for, and are granted, special case exemptions.

Rest assured that the courts are going to spend a lot of 2026 hearing appeals related to this. The potential for High Court challenges on constitutional grounds on the use of powers seems pretty high to me.

How do you know Morrison went to the site of the fires?

sovcits are already clogging the courts with their legally baseless arguments. A lot are going to be declared Vexatious Litigants soon.

Bogle and Wilson’s recent book on Australian conspiracy theorists has a whole chapter on it.

This threads favourite news channel al jazeera. ADF, US forces and others killed over 500,000.

This is more gaslighting from you. It's basically become your identity here.

This counts all warrelated deaths over 20 years across multiple countries and actors, not civilians killed by the US & ADF... and using it to deny or juxtapose it with Gaza’s documented starvation and civilian toll is abhorrently dishonest.

BTW reminding that you're on the clock and you need to prove your claim that Israel “didn’t starve anyone". Unless you don't understand the form rules, it's probably time you go read them.

Unless it's a federal election and the LNP need them

Why do people post 70,000 like its all civilians. Around 30,000 hamas terrorist filth in there. Its absolutely ludicrious a distinction isnt made when people cite the numbers.
No I was interpreting your earlier statement around the coalition killing civilians as not related to Gaza which is what I thought the other poster was talking about and thought he has misinterpreted your statement

Same with extreme Islamist cults. They exist in all religions.

As an atheist, hearing people complain about another religion, but this other religion is fine (Particularly the 3 Middle Eastern Abrahamic religions) is some of the most stupid things I've ever heard.

The Catholic church ran a pedophile ring for centuries (probably still are in parts of the church) and there are people saying Islam is uniquely bad amongst all religions.

How do you know how many Islamists/jihadists/ISIS affiliates are in Australia? I've googled and nowhere can tell me?

I too have significant concerns about their treatment of women and have interfaced with them via my line of work .... I also have significant concerns about the treatment of women in Islam. Both can be true.

The enemy here is not Islam, or Christianity or whatever... its extremism...its radicalization .... its people incompatible with our values who pose a risk to others in the community in Australia regardless of their creed. This is why; there is no room in this discussion for the Israel/Palestinian situation... even though its horrendous... it's about our population in Australia, and in the aftermath of probably our worst radicalized terrorist attack in our history, that should be our focus. Unfortunately it seems people are more threatened by average Joe Blo having a .308 next door who enjoys his annual hunting trip or ultimately they are more interested in 'winning' arguments online by implicating all sorts of irrelevant issues globally and domestically, when it really is a very very simple remit that sits at our feet.

If we don't pull our collective head out of our arrogant arses....this will absolutely happen again.

As i said, hamas hoarded food. Its on hamas. Food also delivered but not distributed by the UN. There are photos of aid in crates sitting at un sites in gaza. Hamas spent years hoarding food preparing for their years in tunnels.

Cool. Once again, for the 20th, israel has nothing to do with the bondi attack. Its looking isis related. Go back to supporting a pm that allowed jews to get massacred in your country👍
