He's going to have to get his boxing gloves on first....

Hence, it’s a bit of a shock to me initially when I heard Jules went to Rossmoyne. When you put words like: WAG, Cottesloe , wealth all in the same sentence, I wouldn’t have guessed it and that’s by no means disrespecting the school.

Never knew the Swallow brothers were from there until that post. Perth does seem like a small world, once everyone knows everyone doesn’t it? It feels like in Perth, you are more advantaged in going through the private school system especially in sport , purely because of the networks, money , recognition etc. if I stand to be corrected: Buddy Franklin, Banfield, Fyfe, Ben Cousins, Barrass, Georgiades, Dan Curtin ( and his younger brother ), Embley, Erasmus to name a few came from the private system and if you look at the state WA cricket said it’s predominantly private educated. The systems and resources are all there in place. If you’re not from that system, you just have to work harder to the guys that have all the advantages. Hence, I have greater appreciation for guys like the Swallow brothers, as the game has become more of a private game over the decades. Private by means, games being under pay TV. I’ve read the upbringing of someone like Dustin Martin and you just hope we don’t lose the “ blue collar” nature of picking recruits. Would love the game be more open to all but with TV rights and all it feels like it’s becoming a game more for the wealthy and there is a gap between the haves and have nots.

Living in Sydney past 11 years, selective schools were mainly from immigrant families wanting to give their kid the best opportunity in education. On the other side, I do read about there being a lot of parents that frown upon that forced level of learning. Sport definitely wasn’t a top priority in a lot of the schools in Sydney from my experience. I’d say the ratio of Asian ( South, East) families at NSW selectives school ( top ranked anyway)was close to around 90%+ .
The AFL is a private school league. This was spoken of a bit when Max Gawn first arrived on the scene - the fact he not only went to public school but worked part time at domino’s was completely unheard of.

Now, how many players come from wealthy families and how many received scholarships for their footballing abilities, you’d probably have to do your own research on that one.

There’s also the fact that being an elite athlete takes more than natural talent and a desire to play at the top level. There is a level of professionalism required that is nurtured far more in the private school system than in the public. Brodie Holland spoke of this years ago, and of the need to take a harder look at mature age recruits. He was coaching in the Victorian country leagues and he said there were players that would be a walk up start to any AFL team any day of the week. The reality was, when they 17-21, without the guidance and pressure of the elite pathways, they were off drinking piss, smoking cones and trying to root birds, same as everyone else. When the party was finally over and they decided to focus on their footy, they’d missed the boat at the draft and clubs didn’t want to know them.

Garry Lyon looks like he hasn’t had a shave or shower since 1985
It's funny you say that because one morning when I was listening to the SEN breakfast show (which I very rarely do), Garry and Tim Watson were going on about their shower habits. Garry was actually pretty obsessed with showering. He was a minimum 2 showers a day kind of guy whereas Tim wasn't so fussed. I would have guessed the opposite, but there you go.

Lots in this thread but from having heard form an ex lions player, Neale, amongst a couple of others, was indeed a naughty boy on the Vegas trip (Nashville), however this wasnt his first rodeo and as it wasn’t close to home Jules again stayed with Lachie.
She has known about many of his conquests but this one is different as it was with a close friend and crosleys partner was going to go public, Jules knew she had to get on the front foot.

Jimmy did a naughty thing?

Well there you go. The things you learn in an online discussion about a footy player boning his wife's best friend. God bless the internet!

I agree. Front ended contracts are always a risk the club has to carry - if you want a player, you have to accept the risk.
Or the player and manger wanted it up front and signed a contract then didnt like the cash flow at the back end so went back on their word and looked elsewhere
He did the same with his marriage contract and tells the world he’s loyal.
I retract my earlier comment he’s not a dog they are loyal, He’s a dirty rat.

Court wont stop her moving them.
Completely agree, is a system where you have to "prosecute" a change in circumstance and that's time consuming and expensive. Fair chance she applies for litigation funding from him so he would be paying for both sides.

Inertia and preservation of a "status quo" is a by product of an overwhelmed, expensive and slow legal system.

Her moving to WA is the current circumstance and I'd be shocked if he could get that changed through the courts.

Not unheard of for acrimonious, highly contested cases to cost $5-700k or even more.

If the shoe was on the other foot though the courts decision would be different.

No the few blokes I know have kept their kids in their state when ex has wanted to move them.
Admittedly they weren’t ****ing their wifes best friend who no doubt the young kids call Aunty

Im gathering she grew up in the so-called 'golden triangle' of Perth?

I grew up in Perth but never really too connected with that area. Didn't really like the vibe of alot of the western suburb folk in Perth. Eventually moved into the area in my mid 20s. My understanding of why Lachie Neale on why he left Freo initially was the limelight of being an AFL footballer in a hot bed like WA. Being a country lad from SA, the media attention was close. Being in a less-focused AFL state like QLD, less attention and spotlight would be on him- which is something that I think he valued, mind the irony- his own personal space.

This.

What you will find is, its more of a postcode thing. When you mention certain postcodes in Perth- people can automatically say 'business' people or want to do business with them. Food for instance I'd often found better bang for your buck in middle-to-lower class suburbs of Perth than shopping at say Claremont Quarter (a postcode away from Cottesloe)

Perth is like a social bubble- the private school kids in that western suburb triangle had their own warped world. Alot of them haven't escaped WA up until the age of 18 years of age.

Yep. Some areas and groups in Perth are well off and well.....snobs in an Australian way.

You can see and feel the money and the pissing contests going on. My sister in law mentioned your post code in Perth determines who you date and who you socialise with. Went to a pub in a "posh" area and watching and listening to conversations it was so fake and people just acted differently. Wanted to slap a few of them TBH, just so fake. Not my scene.

Being a Darwin boy, you just dont see that growing up or even now.

He might consider allowing her to move back to W.A he hasn’t got too long left in footy and could probably move back. It’s the least he could do for her and the kids to have other family support. Or does he say wait one year and I’ll finish my career in Perth

Not defending his loyalty- just saying bleeding about losing a front ended contract is like crying over a recruit doing an ACL - it’s like blaming the sun for coming up. 🤷🏻

This is one of my all time favourite YouTube videos. I've been married twice, got three kids. We didn't split up because of infidelity, though both my exes got together with new men shortly after we split. That was hard, though I could have dealt with it better. Both are still with those people , one after over 15 years .

I didn't bad mouth the new partner to my kids, that's important.

Anyway watch the vid , you'll be hooked after the first minute . People are idiots, but men, some men, are ruled by their joysticks.

Haven’t thought about it until he disregarded his marriage contract and got a sense of Deja vu.
Leopard, spots and shit

How many times does Neale shower a day? Perhaps there's a correlation?

Why wouldn't a WA team take him ? , yes he is a cheating lowlife , but one hell of a player a lot of clubs would turn a blind eye to .
There's be very few clubs in the comp that would not take him.

Its more likely all 17 would interested if he was on the move and didn't care what state he ended up in.

Well I guess, I thought he was a bit older but had a look and he will be turning 34 at the start of 2027. If he’s still playing well I suppose he could be the cherry on top.

The private school attitude is cooking the game as well. Its no coincidence the game has gone to shit in the last decade while private school morons who never played at the highest level tinker with the game like its their private fiefdom.

Some changes - like the concussion related ones - are probably unavoidable but so much of the rest is kind of stupid.

I’m assuming you didn’t see where Barry Hall had his clock cleaned by Paul Gallen?
I'm assuming you didn't see that fight. It ended in a draw and Hall actually won that fight. Bad judging. Sonny Bill Williams is the one that smashed Hall. And SBW can fight. So too can Hall and Gallen.
