TDK still in the rehab group. The new rule has me contemplating TDK and Cameron ........what say you?
Price is part of it. I don't think I've gone once without Max in the past but is time catching up and I have a ?mark with X and the new rule......not to say I won't still finish up with both.TDK still in the rehab group.
What makes those two better than Gawn/Xerri? Price?
TdK is sharing the ruck with Marshall, and Cameron to me is at his max price. I owned him a lot of last year, he's a good player. But can he do better than last year? (111)
EDIT: I reckon King going down again was reason they wouldn't let Marshall leave in the Trade period. Needed a back up if it happened and as it turned out, they were correct.....Price is part of it. I think Marshall will spend more time away from Ruck and play more Fwd, with King on the injured list once again and TDK will be No1, but still in rehab group is not a positive. I also think the new rule will assist Cameron( could be upside there) and he's priced at av same as Gawn is, but $80k cheaper for 16 pts diff............a lot can happen in the next 10 weeks.....

I'm going with Seymour Skinner 's theory of picking these SC greats until they give you a reason not too.Surely ya’ll learnt your lesson doubting the great man last year.

Sounds familiar.I'm going with Seymour Skinner 's theory of picking these SC greats until they give you a reason not too.

I agree the last possession rule won’t change a lot .I don’t think the new deliberate rule or whatever they wanna call it will have any change on ruck scoring. They pretty much paid that this year anyway.
The preseason games might give us some insight as to how coaches will navigate the new rules. I think that the umps not waiting will have a big impact on the slower rucks or those with a lesser tank. If I look at the Tigers then there's a distinct possibility that they run with Nank, a fwd/ruck (Sims) and a def/ruck (Balta)..

It’s the umps not waiting and instant throw ups that may catch rucks stranded downfield occasionally after a play.
Maybe we see rucks not venturing too far into the fwd 50, leaving it to a fwd/ruck and dropping a kick behind
play a bit more . What points they lose with 2.7 less throw ins they may pick up with one extra intercept mark and kick.
Yes the pre season games will be a big indicator, think everyone is on the same page that the big boys like Sean Darcy and Witts will be the most affected being less mobile. TDK for me is the prototype of a modern ruckman, just a shame he is splitting the time with RoMar or he would have been my boy this year. The preseason games might give us some insight as to how coaches will navigate the new rules. Teams are putting a lot more emphasis of speed on the ball which means that rucks won't be physically capable of getting to all contests, combine that with less ball ups and there's a real argument for a 10% drop in ruck output. Max already get's a good portion of his points from intercept marking, take out 10 ruck contests/game and his average will drop.
Same goes for Jackson and the uncertainty around Young and just how much the new rules affect a lumbering Darcy. Does the setback to King mean that Roma is stationed as a forward taking the ruck contests in that part of the ground as well?Yes the pre season games will be a big indicator, think everyone is on the same page that the big boys like Sean Darcy and Witts will be the most affected being less mobile. Grundy is a wrestler type and has the extra bye earlyNot much love for Grundy & English?
Would have thought the rule changes suit their style of play and athletic profile, both get around the ground well.
I'll be going Grundy. His scoring last year was undeniable. If he has had an uninterrupted preseason, I'll be going there with X.Grundy is a wrestler type and has the extra bye early
English tempts me but again early bye hurts vs Gawn and Xerri
It makes a huge difference in the short term though,I'll be going Grundy. His scoring last year was undeniable. If he has had an uninterrupted preseason, I'll be going there with X.
I can't speak for others, but the early byes don't really come up in my thinking if I believe the player will be in the top 3-5 in their respective line.
Stuff happens every year - injuries, suspensions, dead rookies, etc. Ground can be made up pretty quickly, and if you get your rookies right, then that's more than half the battle won AFAIC.
Not overly it’s about 40-60 points or 2-3 ppgIt makes a huge difference in the short term though,
You can do what others did and pivot to a Grundy early days but in the case here you are essentially giving up 120 points or hoping they get injured or suspended early to make that up
How?Not overly it’s about 40-60 points or 2-3 ppg
You have to factor in what Grundy's replacement would have scored. If it was only Grundy missing then your 19th best score replaces his score and that is generally around 80pts. Grundy's score therefore would be 488pts, only 36 behind Xerri which is just 1.5 PPG over the whole season. How?
At R5 last year Gawn 551 Xerri 524 points in r1-5 Grundy 408
This is with 2 poor scores from Xerri and Gawn in there as well
In the midseason byes sure but early days we have say 10-12 premos an extra 3-4 Mid pricers and the rest are all rookies who are not getting anywhere near 80 consistentlyYou have to factor in what Grundy's replacement would have scored. Man I hope my 19th score is 80 in the early bye rounds, I'll be top 10.....You have to factor in what Grundy's replacement would have scored. As I said, a score of 80 from the replacement gives a difference of 36, if you're factoring expected performance then that's a different story. In the midseason byes sure but early days we have say 10-12 premos an extra 3-4 Mid pricers and the rest are all rookies who are not getting anywhere near 80 consistently
The extra 10k from Grundy to Gawn or Xerri isn't going to make up the extra 100+ points each of them will score over him in the first 5 rounds *Pending they don't get injured or suspended making that redundant
It's quite surprising what the 4th best rookie score (19th) can be. I had a look at rookie scores over the early games in 2024 and the 4th - 6th best rookie scores were consistently around 70-80.Man I hope my 19th score is 80 in the early bye rounds, I'll be top 10.....
