Im not a fan of moving on vetrans and i believe they hold so much value to the development of the kids
both on the field and at training.
Agree.
personally i am hoping our players like Nank , Prestia , Broad , Vlastuin etc play as long as they possibly can whilst contributing.
They were all great in 2025 (all in top 10 of the Tigers BnF), how are Richmond going to replace them?

Will the Tigers battle to win 5 games in 2026 of they fall away?
But my point was quality is quality and top end kids are that because they have a higher level of talent and i think the stats would agree with kids taken in the top 10 to later playing more games and achieving success
Senior AFL quality is what you want.

There is no guarantee that the kids come good, or even stay with Richmond if they do come good.

Tigers fans are basically back where Carlton fans were a decade ago (after being sold they needed to go full scorched earth rebuild).

Carlton had all the talented early draft picks that meant they drafted - Weiterz, McKay, Curnow, SPS, Dow, O'Brien TDK, Walsh - plus they "smartly" traded for a glut of GWS early picks in Marchbank, Sumner, Pickett, Plowman.

Carlton fans were sold that just needed to sit back and wait, cop the shit seasons until the kids developed...and so their fans lapped up the we will be great in 4-5 years mantra (what Tiger fans are doing now).

But after all the wasted seasons saw Carlton getting a couple of 5-8 finishes, Carlton fans are once again talking about 4-5 years into he future.

But that is what the "experts" think Collingwood need to do??

Need old guard like Gavin Brown, Gavin Crossisca, Gary Pert, Prestigiacomo etc. No pussy-footers that are too scared to get their hands dirty.

That’s great you use Carlton as an example but why not use clubs that hold onto a team with a team full of 30 plus players.

Yep, and still contending for flags.

Despite being shadows of the players they were in their prime.

Are they though?

Miochek and Cox gone.
Hill massive question marks.
No young players look better than role players at best.

Like Collingwood, WC and Geelong back in 2018-20, who were top 4 oldest lists. When North, Carl, GC and Freo were youngest lists.

WC has been the "smart club", despite Collingwood and Geelong winning flags and still being top4 teams...because WC are now young like North and Essendon and Geelong and Pies are still old.

And we are all jealous of the tremendous success that North, Carlton, GC and Freo have enjoyed as a result of being young and shit back in the late 2010s.

What’s wrong with you?
West Coast hung on and now are paying the price. They gave early picks for Kelly and ignored the draft.
Geelong have recruited excellent young players and were lucky enough to get 3 A Grade stars walk in.

Collingwood got Perryman Houston and Membrey

Geelong got Smith Danger and Cameron

They have their heads buried in the sand, 3 flags in 60 years is poor.
Thanks for your incisive scathing criticism, i will send it to the Pies administration to take on board and make the appropriate improvements

Why do Geelong get their names spread out over a decade, but you limit Collingwood's names to the 2024 off season?

Oh, I know... because it suits your narrative.

The same folk have been saying the same thing since we allegedly fell off the cliff in 2021.

If it were up to them, we'd have been bottom 4 for the past 4 years, stockpiling 'talent', and crossing our fingers hoping a few of them will make the grade, and get us back to where we actually have been for the last 4 years, but by about 2029... (when Moore, De Goey, etc. will be about to hang up their boots).

Mention whatever you like, because you're not making any sense at all.

But please, do tell us again how much of a hole Mason Cox is going to leave at the club...

Given he is better than West Buller Etc
Miochek going and McStay rarely firing.
Plus no back up ruck.

WC botched their list and are now going the Carlton and North "smart" rebuild route.

In 2020 Geelong gave up 3 first round picks for Cameron, opting to ignore the draft. A smart team would have loaded up on all those first round draft picks!

Geelong traded for Danger in 2015, same time the Pies traded for Treloar.

Geelong traded three first round picks for Cameron - Pies added Perryman, Membrey and Houston for just one future first round pick.

You are hilarious 😂 😂

Nobody said that the old guys weren't playing well, you know it's not going to last forever this thread is about what happens next.

Except.... they have.

You've been privy to a heap of posts telling us that Pendlebury is being carried to the games record and Acres has been a better player than Sidebottom since 2023.

But the facts are, they're not playing at the same level as they were in the 2010's, as they couldn't be expected to.

See here’s the thing Cameron is elite Danger is elite

Perryman Houston Membrey are just going are ok.

Geelong also have an excellent list mix and also a far better history of drafting than Collingwood.

Perryman, Houston and Membrey are not in the same paragragh as the Geelong three though.

Guess that’s the argument though isn’t it. They aren’t near the output but no one is pushing them out of the side.

We're talking about two of the very best players to have ever played for Collingwood.

What teams wouldn't either of them get a game at, even playing at their current levels?

Let's start with Brisbane.

19 year old Levi Ashcroft played 27 games in 2025, Jarrod Berry 24. You honestly think either of them are getting games ahead of 2025 Pendlebury and Sidebottom?
