I doubt Albanese would want an RC because I'd be surprised if they didn't find that Israel's actions in Gaza were at least part responsible for the shooter's motivation and that would be awkward for everyone.

Was thinking this earlier.

It would also be declaring the shooter to be a total dumbass, to conflate the state of Israel, with mom and dad Jews in sydney. But i guess whe already knew they were dumbasses.
People who do these things don’t think like you and me. This extremist ideology is not based in Western logic and reasonableness. That’s why they are unpredictable.

Is that the same western logic and reasonableness that's seeing Trump blowing up Carribean fishermen to avoid people talking about him f***ing children?

Oh believe me, I get it. People get slaughtered in the street and the answer is that the people who did nothing wrong should cop a lecture about how racism is bad. It’s ****ing lame and cowardly. Whatever the “call” of our leaders is, it should have anyone else with Islamic terrorist sympathies shitting themselves. But nope, it’s always on everybody but them.
Can you furnish some instances of Islamic terrorism in Australia which have gone unpunished by the authorities?

Another superior western thinker. F***wit must have forgotten his Hippocratic oath.

yes and she could shed some tears while she was up there
I'm with the late her maj there, stiff upper lip never let people know what your thinking. It's one of the few admirable qualities of the English and I still can't understand how they manage to shed their dignity like they did when Diana died with all the wailing and screeching.

bondi shooters associating with Sydney based IS cell years before their attack.
So I think that’s more an intelligence failure than any sort of reluctance to offend Muslims and letting anyone off scot-free.

I know you want to go super hard on Australia’s 800,000 Muslims but let’s wait till the various enquiries hand down their findings.

Yes true.
That hasn't stopped some people blaming protestors though.

People regularly got busted and locked up for providing material support for ISIS, advocating for ISIS or recruiting for them before the latest attack.

The people who carried out the latest attack are either dead or in custody.

Meanwhile people are claiming all Muslims are somehow evil as a result of this attack. So those Muslim people who did nothing wrong are now being targeted and you seem fine with that.

I suspected it at the time and the more i read the more i'm sure.
Those admistering gun licenses are a case study of stereotype lazy public service.
Jihad Jack was issued a gun license "AFTER " he was charged.
There are plenty of others, some with devastating results.
It pre-dates Albanese, though...granted, it was ultimately his job to fix it...somewhere in the inbox i suppose.
We don't need new laws, we need to make currant laws work.
Its not Albanese's responsibility.

Its a state responsibility. The admin and the laws themselves are state law not federal law. Its not "legal" for Albanese's government (or Morrison's for that matter,) to step in and interfere with state jurisdiction. (At least its not without a big legal stoush over what is constitutional and what isn't.)

It's always possible that Wong channelled her english stoicism, but i think its been generally agreed that she's antisemitic...

i dont know if they are taking responsibility. I dont think they said those words. They said that they were sorry for what they did or didnt do. They didnt mention specifics.
If we're going to discuss what the PM and his Foreign Affairs Minister said then best to start with quoting them and their use of the word 'sorry' exactly:

Albanese:

''I feel the weight of responsibility for an atrocity that happened whilst I'm Prime Minister,... and I'm sorry for what the Jewish community and our nation as a whole has experienced.'

Wong:

'Im desperately sorry for what has occurred in our country and what the Jewish community have experienced'.

IMO these are words of empathy and understanding and with a lot more depth and understanding than the 'thoughts and prayers' trope dished out by political leaders after similar tragedies in the US for example.

And they have nothing to do with accepting the blame being levelled at them by the likes of Frydenberg, Hanson, Leys, Morrison and Howard for the murderous acts of two terrorists. Blame that is being levelled for cynical political reasons.

I assume this is a satirical comment.

Because yes, this is the 'general agreement' amongst those seeking to make partisan political capital of the tragedy in Bondi. And using it as a platform to wreak revenge for her and her government's policy position on daring to join the rest of the international community in condemning the Israeli slaughter in Gaza and to provide justice for the Palestine people in terms of human rights, self determination and an end to the Israeli sanctioned illegal occupation of their lands.

Seeking justice for Palestine and holding the Netanyahu administration accountable for the ongoing tragedy that unfolded since the IDF invaded Gaza two years ago is NOT antisemitism, despite what the Murdoch press and certain right wing Israeli support organisations are alleging.

And on the front page criticism levied at Penny Wong led by the Liberal leadership for her not being able to cry on cue when the cameras are on her, I agree with what Mark Kenny had to say. That it has all the hallmarks of the public hounding of Lindy Chamberlain and her lack of emotion after the loss of her daughter. There's something more than a bit of misogynistic about it.
