I’ve been thinking of hosting a game but not sure how it all works.

There's plenty here who will co-mod with you.

Theme?
Functions? Amulet, factions etc

Set up can be hard but there's been a few do it without a co-host.

This is what Gralin shared with me before my first game

yeah happy to run it with you

the process is have an idea for a game

are you doing a theme or just standard WW

if standard what roles

what rules

you can copy rules and roles from previous games and tweak to suit you

when you are ready you create a sign up thread and put the details in

then you need a way to keep track of everything, most people use spreadsheets

once people have signed up

you finalise the playing list, tweak roles if you need to

eg remove some if less people, add some if more

you randomise the roles list to the playing list

send out PMs to the roles/factions and open up the game

from there its a matter of tracking votes, tracking actions, providing updates etc

As for our epic 3 vote rivalry, I was thinking today that you're the Metro-man to my Megamind.

Haha you never let me enjoy my return because whenever I take time off you rack 'em up then I have to catch up again.

Far more well-rounded at this game than me, and much more consistent. I think there's times I just enjoy sitting back and having fun as a villager where I can have a laugh because a lot of the tough wins require a lot of thinking and brain power.

All in good fun though, this would be one of the first 3s I've got in a good role I reckon. Don't last too long in them.

You're more than welcome to co-mod with mine if you wanted to get the hang of it. If you can wrap your head around something like that, everything will seem a breeze. But likewise if you just wanted to run a basic game and I could just be there as a second point of contact, happy to do that.

You certainly put in a shift on this one. Just remember that most of the epic evil plays are actually done by you so you don't need to worry about them as much when you're the villager.

I do it differently. I pick out who's likely to be trustworthy early and then refine as I go. When someone I trust gives me a massive bout of cognitive dissonance with their posting, I try to re-evaluate. Still working on that last part as I still brush it off too often, but it's been an effective indicator of who's evil and hiding it well the last few games.

Trusting no-one just leads you down pointless rabbit holes more often than not.

Best one ever was this weird American reality show I saw a couple of times when I used to stupidly pay for Foxtel. The premise was a real person who suspects their partner of infidelity approaches the host. Host coordinates investigation, surveillance etc then presents the evidence to the person. Then they all stage a caught in the act on camera scene and there is a screaming punch up eventually controlled by security, but not too soon. Host tries to get caught up in punch-up and does a finale analysis scene with black-eye, split lip etc.

Actually I can’t really see you in that setup at all, but it was gold entertainment for the one season it ran before the legal actions commenced
