Here's a pic from one of dads photo albums, neither fella here is anyone I know I assume dad was taking the photo. I've asked him about previously, apparently it was taken at a Ports - Richmond practise match that took place in the yabba in the 70s. That's all he could tell me. Probly hada coupla cans and couldn't remember much else. I wonder if that rings any bells with any of the old(er) timers around here? Ford Fairlane and any others? I guess you could kinda make out the Guernsey's in the background.

Ports vs Richmond in the mid 70s in Broken Hill, an event lost entirely to time with only these pictures left. I've asked other locals about it and nobody else remembers.

I think there was a game in 1971 but I don't know anything about it.

The Maggies beat Richmond by a couple of points in an end of season game played in Perth in 1971.

Port lead for most of the game but the tiggers hit the front with about 30 seconds left!

The Maggies got the last centre clearance and kicked the ball to the top of the goal square where Leon Milde out marked a couple of Richmond defenders.
Leon then put the Maggies back in front after the siren to win the game, but it was with a John Butcher 10 metres directly out from goal special that came off his boot sideways and missed the inside of the left goal post by a coat of varnish resulting in the goal ump covering a lot of territory before he could signal it was a goal.

For those who weren't around back then Leon was a big awkward bloke of about 6' 7'' who rucked in tandem with Paul Marrett.
