WTF are you talking about? You can't seriously claim 'no Lyon' inclusive of a test he was dropped for as if somehow England got an advantage from it. It's also very unlikely he would have been selected in Melbourne and wouldn't have bowled if he was. We probably would have picked him in Sydney, but we clearly didn't rate spin there anyway.
Lyon is approaching 40 and and Haze is a perpetually injured 35-year-old whose 'replacement' is superior to him in every relevant statistical category. It's a bit rich to lament their absences at this point as if they are 28-year-olds unexpectedly cut down in their primes.
England lost Wood, Archer, Atkinson throughout the series too. And had in-game injuries too.
Injuries to bowlers are expected. We kept two front-line bowlers in Starc and Boland for the entire series. England had some more genuine luck with Cummins but that is offset by their own injuries.
Australia won easily anyway. The injuries narrative is unnecessarily pathetic.

England’s injured players aren’t fit to lick Cummins’ boots. You can't seriously claim 'no Lyon' inclusive of a test he was dropped for as if somehow England got an advantage from it. Too early in the day for that.Bit of a muted celebration. Where's the fireworks etc?
Did a Bob MurphyPat Cummins has a cheek, putting on his whites like he played in this game.
Not sure he should even be a part of the celebrations after playing one test.

I’d find them a lot more entertaining if they went all Carlton / Richmond supporter on their team when they are not performing. Instead, we get dull StKilda like happy clappers.Series is over and these campaigners are still singing about themselves
Agreed on a lot here, disagree with the Mitch Starc analogy because quite frankly it is difficult to hit top pace most spells...except your first of each session. That's where he failed to step up. Though I will conceed this may have been in service of accuracy in which case it's more poor strategy from whomever told him to run with it as without Wood in that test he was far more threatening as the strike option on that pitch. Happy to conceed there's a higher than average probability that's on a bowling plan rather than "pea heartedness". He definitely struggled the longer the day went. Pretty steep drop offs too.He was their most accurate bowler every game he played and their most economical. He has not played long format cricket for 5 years until 6 months ago.
It was consistent in literally every innings he bowled that he would be mid, in some cases low 130s at the start of his spell and warm into the 140s, except at the actual start of the game/innings when he was fresh.
It’s very easy to look at Mitchell Starc and go ‘he’s 140+ every spell from the first ball so everyone should be.’
Starc is a beanpole who seems to rely almost exclusively on that height and beautiful long stride and arm for his speed and it is incredibly repeatable.
If there is one phrase aside from wobble seam I’m sick of hearing from the d**khead commentators this summer it’s ’wrist snap’ and they kept flogging themselves over how much faster Archer’s is compared to other bowlers when he’s bowling his quickest so I’m going to guess that’s got to be in sync with everything else he’s doing with his action for him to be at peak pace. Some bowlers don’t do that until they have warmed into it.
There’s a bloke from South Africa that has done pretty well who is similar
He doesn't want to get run out again.Someone tell marnus he doesn't need to run to the podium, the test match has been won.
