the issue is that I don't see what I do (in this case believe that their religion is of no more consequence than the footy team they support) as hateful
they might choose to see it as hateful and therefore fits into that broad banner of antisemitism
or, some genius decides to conflate criticism of israel and zionism as being antisemitic
In both cases I have no "defence" to the allegation of antisemitism, which them leads me to the "**** you I embrace my antisemitism" - which doesn't involve what I see as actual hateful behaviours like assaulting jews, intentionally damaging property because they are jews, denying them service etc but might involve derogatory comments around the Israeli political corrupt leadership, or around Jews seeking a special protected status above other races

I think there is a lack of imagination on the part of people who barrack for Palestine. How many Israelis would Palestine have killed if they had the firepower? It's so convenient isn't it?

But surely intentions matter, no? That’s where the moral failing is. If Palestine could kill more Israeli civilians, they would. If they could exterminate the Jews, they would - where something like a quarter of Israel’s population are Arab Muslims living in peace. This stops me supporting them as wholeheartedly as others. Israel are bad. But I wouldn’t have supported the Nazis at any point just because they had sustained heavy civilian casualties.

Calling someone a self hating jew is (imo) a form of anti semitism.

Especially when you hear it in the context of the Holocaust and Zionism.

Usually its being used to marginalise people whose close loved ones survived the Holocaust and taught them how ****ed it is when the state oppresses people and abuses the power it has over them. (Especially on the basis of people's race or religion ... or politics or disability for that matter. Cos that is what the Nazi's targeted as well.)

People who think being ethical and fair in how you treat other people is the basis of how you live and when that goes away the unthinkable will happen.
