The club is extremely pleased with Elijah’s return and current performance, along with Hayward and Florent.

Player measurables have improved across the board in Inness’ second year. There remains some concern, however, that the new recruits have arrived at the club in stronger physical and aerobic condition than our existing players, which has been partly attributed to legacy issues from the previous high-performance program under Andrew Russell.

Or does it open up the chance for Wes Walley
I was justing thinking the same. With 2 spots to be filled, it now opens up the possibility of taking another kid who got squeezed out of the draft like Wally, as well as a mature plug and play option - ie Elijah or Walter.

I'd actually be a little surprised if we took both Elijah and White.

Is Wes shows a bit in the intra club games then i would love to see him given a chance.

Any reports on Wes W - has he been F/T training with the VFL and the seniors?
Phillips still presenting his case over pre-season.

That is damning on AR. Seems that we wasted some years under his guidance and practices that continue to linger.

really weird given how well regarded he was, and his performance at Hawks.
Edit: Cripps was pro-AR. May have just been the players but HP should be building the entire squad (of which quite a few had been at other clubs previously on their own experiences/builds).

Buttifant the same..

I would put it more down to standards accepted across the entire club. Been an issue for years. Near enough has been good enough

Not entirely his fault. Coaches wouldn't let him set higher standards. After review Inness has been given more power and it shows (He is also very good)

Do you know whether the idea of not raising standards was driven by the coaches or players?

When you have successful and highly regarded people like Buttifant and Russell come to club and they fail to achieve the same results as they had before you need to consider other reasons why

Either way, the rubbish standards at the club for years all fell under the watch of Lloyd.
Hopefully Wright and Davies have finally set unwavering standards and bloody well enforce them !!

As I’ve mentioned here before, selecting players who aren’t ready from repetitive injuries, long term injuries, injury prone players with no match fitness behind them has played it’s fair share in it as well…

AR was big on a longer build up period before returning to play, however that could mean only training as the show point to be selected.

Yeah if we’re talking “training blocks” you point i think is on the money, very rarely were senior players made to complete a set number of reserves games, to test and set the body and touch for Senior level returns…

Just my thoughts, hopefully there’s a shift in selection criteria…

There has clearly been a shift in the underlying principles, particularly given that Charlie’s (and his mangers) frustration and desire to leave stemmed mostly from his view that Inness’ program did not allow him the flexibility to undertake his own training or rehabilitation outside the prescribed framework.

Ed said that Charlie didn’t enjoy coming to work. Wore that attitude on his sleeve.
What a twat.

Why would Mcinnes be against players seeking additional rehabilitation in order to better their recovery/ performance

Good info 👍. Love that it's a surprise or wtvr to people in the club. Still think theyve got no ability to objectively judge what's going on under their noses.

Also can't fully believe a guy who's fitness regimes have been top tier and world class left our players behind the rest of the field without a number of factors outside Russel's control...

Mccinnes is great. Yet to be seen whether the club will let him do what's required over time.
