He was harsh on switta, but I agree he needs to kick more goals in that small forward role - can't just be a connector.
If you want more goals from him play him closer to goals.

The bloke can't kick much more than 40m and that's not going to change. Hard to kick many goals when you're in range a couple of times a game.

No team has seven forwards kicking over a goal a game. I'm fine with Switta doing what he does and being the one in our forward line that doesn't

You're not going to get much more than a goal a game from Frederick for the same reason. Difference is that bloke can cover 50-55m with ease so you get a few more goals over the season from him.

People in the media seem to be in awe of Mason Cox kicking 2 goals in the match sim stuff. He was opposed to one of Oscar Macdonald, Ollie Murphy or Petersen (Peel). Voss was in the same forward line.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. I’m glad he’s started well, good to have competition, but doubt he’s displacing Treacy, Voss or Amiss in the forward line, nor Jackson or Darcy in the ruck.

Cox did basically nothing bar those two goals one behind over the entire match sim.

The other key forwards were instrumental in creating goals and leading up the ground.

He may have been instructed to stay in the forward 50 and hopefully mark the ball against our second string players because that's what he did.

Multiple word-of-mouths from multiple sources at the club indicate Cox is firmly in the clubs on-field plans for next season.

Training report
I had both of my awesome children with me so I may have missed a bit.

Training started with a decent warm up that wasn't much different to last season. They go from warn ups to modified game mode with separate forwards, mids and backs who eventually link up. Some around the perimeter of the Oval overlap handball and kicking then finally into match sim with the use of full oval and some peel lads filling in. A fee peel boys looked good. I don't know them so won't go into detail there. Then some cool down running. A good 2 and a half hours of medium to high intensity Training.

As mentioned most players available and those not joining in match sims did running and looked in good condition, especially Sweid.

Notable mentions go to Jye Amiss who was probably the most productive key forward today. Lead well and kicked well.

Murray might get a game early from the moments i saw but sometimes I may have got some of the new players and train ons mixed up.

The best players during match sim was Brayshaw Young and Serong. Not all on the same team. Young is elite bar one kick.

Dudley looks much fitter and so does Reid. Tall Cox played only as a tall forward. Maybe i missed those moments but I'm sure he just floated inside 50.

O'Driscoll was ok but still buggers some kicks. It can cost turnovers. He does look strong and fit. Just needs more composure.

Banfield had one good kick in match sim and a shocker of a handball under token pressure.

Some great chase down tackles. Gee Freddy runs hard to tackle.

This preseason I'm trying to ballance out the positive and slightly negative views i have. Overall a good session with only a little bit of average ball use.
Have you seen this on X from Purple Reign. I know you know about Facebook but they are also on X.

Incase anyone doesn't have X Ive written what's in the tweet below. It reads identical to your report. Ive had info copied by them in the past too.

Eg. First match sim of 2026!
Young BOG lasering the ball i50
Amiss the best forward
Murray will push for early games
No injuries.

Yeah it's all good i noticed that too. I asked them why they were lazy enough to copy my main points from my training report and they responded with we don't see any issue with it.

I told them to go down to training and do their own work if they want to provide opinions and they didn't respond back.

I literally could have made anything up. I wouldn’t because I gave what I see while trying to keep my children entertained at the same time for what was over 2 and a half hours.

I don’t want them copying my notes and publishing it. As a team of guys who put content out for Freo they need to lift.

Good luck to them 👍

I wouldn’t have thought there’s much issue with passing on dot points from a training report on here, but to do so without any attribution is pretty ordinary behaviour in my eyes. It’s not hard to give a courtesy mention as to where the info is coming from

Thanks again training reporters, your efforts are truly appreciated to those of us starving for the season

I would take that report with a grain of salt. It was simply starting positions for the match sims. In the two full games I saw before the break JOM definitely on ball/wing.
No interchange in those match sims either so it's start elsewhere or not play at all (which would make no sense)

Some really good drama already and it is only preseason. A big year coming for the Mod team.

I'll head down to training in the next few weeks to provide an Exclusive Banfield update for my fans / groupies.

Last year I was the first to discover Murphy Reid, so I am the number 1 training watcher.

I run the social for Purple Reign so I can take responsibility for doing this.

But just wanted to provide some clarity as I wouldn’t want anyone thinking Duck and Oz from the pod is doing anything untoward:
  • Sharing content is pretty typical on social media and I always try to do the right thing when it comes to crediting work. My theory is, if I'm taking someone's content directly, either sharing an image or quoting their work, I'll add a credit and if possible, link back to the original. You can see many examples of this on the Purple Reign page. Sherriff Incorporated is the piece of yours I took the “Jye-Normiss” line? If so, for that one you will see I included a full screenshot of your comment with another credit given to “Big Footy” in the text. For this training post, a credit didn't seem 100% appropriate as only 2 of 4 points (Tobyn and Amiss) were directly informed by the KH’s Big Footy post and adding a credit could put words into KH’s mouth that I wasn’t sure he agreed with. (I.e. Young was undisputed BOG). The real purpose of the post was to support the gag about wrapping Young in bubblewrap.
  • Above is the basic summary of my response to KH when contacted. I also:
    • Apologised for any frustration
    • Immediately updated the Facebook and Insta posts to include a credit (Twitter doesn’t allow this).
    • Offered to avoid his posts in the future if he didn’t want them shared – KH since replied that this was his preference which is cool.
  • I also responded again as soon as I saw KH’s reply which did include a somewhat more nicely phrased suggestion that I get down to training myself.
  • To answer why don’t I get to training myself? – I’m not pretending to be a reporter. I work full time. I don’t get paid to post on behalf of Purple Reign. For me, I just like hosting a space for Freo Fans to talk about what’s going on and post some meme’s.

So yeah, at the time I thought the post was okay but I would never want anyone to feel put out by anything that is shared so happy to stay away from Big Footy in general.

Though personally, I’ve got to say I’m pretty disappointed in this response. I personally get a kick out of my own stuff being shared in good faith on sites like AFL Meme’s and the Belltower Times. I only get annoyed when sites like Flagmantle go out of their way to remove credits, but that’s another story…

But to each their own I guess. I’ll continue to try use my best judgement and if anyone has a problem with anything I post, just let me know and I’ll make sure it is addressed ASAP.

If you unearth another gem like Bruce, I am all for it

You could of checked with me first though. It's a quick pm and easy enough before taking upon yourself.

We chatted via pm after I contacted you and it's now resolved.

Personally I find it frustrating when people give their opinions about people giving their opinions on people giving their opinions on training
here here...Perhaps if everyone goes and grabs a nice cup of tea?
Catching up on this thread has cut right into my nap time.

Im going to be the first to call Adam Sweid as being ready to go from Day 1 of the season and right in the frame for early selection. It will be very tough to debut early as I think Dudley and Murray both look fantastic but make no mistake I think Sweid will be right in contention for an early debut. My friend with contacts at the club has told me Sweid was told to ease up on his training as he was pushing himself to the limits with personal training sessions over the break. Possibly why he sat out Mondays session.

No question Dirty_banchez, you have always provided exquisite content and to the best of my knowledge have never been proven wrong.

I am quivering with anticipation for the first of your training masterpieces.

What part of this do you disagree with s_wd6?

Mason Cox
Just hope they don't try an extra tall tbh.

Feel it could be the difference between winning and losing games if it doesn't work and that's the most likely outcome (or at least we play worse than expected). Dropping points we shouldn't early is risky to the overall season.
