Not sure if this is quite the right spot for this, so mods please move/delete if not:

I ended up writing around 20,000 words in all on following St Kilda throughout 2025, which I posted to my blog Red, White and Black over two parts.

Here is part one - Summer and Autumn, a week-by-week look at the (brief) rise and fall of a season, breaking jinxes, losing the unloseable, the lowest crowd and taking it all in through a new media and social media landscape: https://redwhiteandblack.com.au/2025/12/01/2025-season-review-part-1-love-takes-miles/

And part two - Winter and Spring (and some Summer), becoming a father, the Miracle, and what it could mean; Nas; Tauru season; falling in and out of fashion; and St Kilda making its move.
https://redwhiteandblack.com.au/202...part-2-winter-and-spring-fourteen-shows-down/

Hope you get something out of it!
Stick it in the preseason thread mate. That is where all the foot traffic will be this time of year.

So now we're copping it for supporting Jack & Sos?

I want to preface this by saying I understand it's not a good look to not mention being sympathetic for the victim, but surely the club is allowed to support staff who aren't guilty of anything, even though their reputations have been damaged due to a family members actions.

Could it be Rod Owen? I don't think he is a happy man.

Did Goddard have anything to do with this, l wonder.
Did they play together?
Nope, Goddard retired same off-season Shiel got traded in (2018). Ships in the night and whatnot.

He is seriously comparing the father and brother to the actual perpetrator who was a player for the local club?
Stephen has come out of this looking terrible by still claiming that his rapist son is not guilty, but I still agree with what you have said.
Also this is nitpicking, but you would think a solicitor could read what he is quoting to see that Lenny Hayes is not the new St Kilda CEO.

Jesus , he has less understanding than Denis Denuto. If that's how his brain works i wouldn't hire him to convey a house.

1: Nobody associated with StKilda Football Club has been accused of a crime. So the Analogy with Mount Compass doesn't hold.

2: Seems to me that Lenny is responding to some sort of question, though i can't see what it is.

3: It would be a lie to suggest that a family member being tried and found guilty of a crime, and going to jail was not traumatic on that family. Why would you not support them?

4:Relevance of member count and financial status? If the club was not associated with the victim or the criminal, what exactly is the obligation meant to be? Should Carlton make a statement because of Silvagni history? The Logic fail is massive for someone with a legal background.

5: Why is it a saga? . He was charged, he was convicted, he has appealed. I'm no lawyer but it seems like a pretty standard sort of thing that happens.

If my Cousin committed a crime , would it be appropriate for the company i worked for to approach the victim or make a statement about them?

This is complete BS.

As far as I am aware, neither SOS nor Jack had anything to do with this criminal affair, aside from, obviously their relationship to the man found guilty.

In the other club mentioned, it was one of their own players who actually committed the crime.

I understand it would have upset some people that SOS came out and stood by his son and they are now challenging, but that, again, has nothing to do with the club, whether we deem it to be a good look or not.

I don’t believe the club needed to make any statement at all. This whole sorry affair has nothing to do with us as a club.

He kind of loses some credibility in referring to Lenny as CEO as well. (At least do your homework, mate.) Why has this guy got such an axe to grind?

I don’t have Instagram so have no idea how this went down on there.

Don't think it's so much an axe to grind as shameless publicity posturing - feel free to substitute posturing with a much worse word. He's demonstrating he's a really good (or really terrible) lawyer by twisting facts to suit a given argument and jumping on what he sees as an easy bandwagon to do so.

He brings that level of flawed argument into court, he'd get ripped apart.

FWIW, the lawyer has posted previously on the case on IG and given an overall update as well as his own 10 cents worth - not sure if he posts on other cases, but its true to form

As the whole tawdry Lachie Neale affair has shown, being able to link any "scandal" to an AFL Club, no matter how tenuous, will be pounced upon with glee by the salacious meeja

Law us one of those places where attention to detail is rather important.

Getting basic information incorrect does tend to not go well.

I think it an attempt to copy the likes of Legle Eagle.
