Are there any fireys on bigfooty? I'm really interested in applying to become one and would love if anyone had any information on the job. Cons/pros, how hard it is to get in etc.

Pretty hard thing to get into straight away unless you have experience or you are justvolunteering. Probably be best to join the Army reserve and do fire fighting there for a year at least. Then makes it easier to get a job in the MFB

Friend is a firey in Adelaide. Very very competitive. He loves it but says plenty of old boys sticking on well past their prime as it’s such a good gig.
Said a lot of the time hardest part of shift is working out what you’re having for dinner. Fair bit of time spent at the gym and plenty of call outs for burnt out cars.

Didn’t work with Cornes but mates had mentioned he was struggling working there with media commitments. Often bailing on team building events.
Did say a group went out for dinner and beers in town and Kaneo has rolled in wearing his SA Firey t shirt. If the T wasn’t a give away made sure to tell everyone he crossed paths with that evening.

Son in law has just graduated(Melbourne). Took a bit to get through, not helped by a nasty broken tib and fib from a rucking contest at footy 2 years ago, so he's done REALLY well to get through.
Life experience, a will, some aptitude and physical fitness- got to be able to carry a 75kg body weight some metres. Don't give in if it's a real passion.
