Hmm coming from an Essendon supporter didn't think this would get thrown up.
From a Carlton perspective, ( I'm 20 y.o.) A lot of the older guys I know hate Collingwood with a passion, most people my age HATE Essendon with a passion! Even though 1/2 the people you associate with are Essendon
from my experience I guess It's because all the northern suburbs are predominantly supported by both Essendon and Carlton. Tends to create a grudge I guess and In recent years the games have been absolutely *******! IMO Carlton & Dons of the past decade >>>>> WC & Sydney of the past few seasons
How are we the greatest bandwagoners around? 2003 after our first wooden spoon our membership was a club record 33,525. 2007 following consecutive spoons it was a new club record 35,431. At the times when our results have been their worst ever our memberships have been at their highest ever. Explain how we are bandwagoners.
I dont mind Collingwood as a club. Personally, i feel they have the best coach and president anyone could ask for at the moment.
There is a stereotype of fans they have that just annoy the shit out of me.

The only club im not a fan of is Freo. they bore me to tears. Ive seen them 4 times in melbourne and each time i forgot who was winning. Sleepy football club

You must have avoided social interaction your entire life if you have more hatred for Freo than anyone else. Most people base their hatred on interactions with supporters of the other club both at the games and in day-to-day life, and I can barely recall ever meeting a Freo supporter in day-to-day life, but can't avoid Carl / Coll supporters (or barrackers as Collingwood call themselves)

Both are filth. Can't stand either of them. If there are 6 games I year I want to always win irrespective of our season, it is Carlx2, Collx2 and Adelx2 (living in Adelaide - the press makes you hate em).
In fact, I want us to thrash Carlton and Collingwood every game. Can not stand either of them. The way it should be!

The ess v carlton games in the 90's were the nasty amongst the supproters. ive seen more blues(pardon the pun) at ess v blue games than all the other games combined.
We are both big clubs and both on 16 flags, i'd hate those bastards to go one up again. Collingwood are catching carlton fast in the hate department but thats only because the blues have been rubbish for awhile, if they get better again then the rivalry will get back to what it used to be, brutal.

That's a good point. I wouldn't call Carlton bandwagoners... I guess after Collingwood got record crowds this year you could call them bandwagoners... but I wouldn't.
Don't like Carlton, although I like most of their playing list much more than Collingwood's, especially now that Fatnall and Lappin are gone, geez I hated them.
I hate absolutely everyone on the Pies' list. Thomas, Rocca and Didak for example. I think if Rocca quit football he should be the spokesperson for the Pies though, or head of some fanclub or something. In the images in my mind, all Collingwood supporters look basically like Anthony Rocca... Well except the ones I know

All my wife's family and friends are Carlton "supporters" who during the 90's had memberships and reserved seats and would SMS me relentlessy etc etc (esp 1995) and then, after 1999, they completely dropped off - reason given "nah, they're gonna go shit this year!". Surprisingly, recently asked if interested now you've got Judd and response is "Wait and see how they go next year, if they get in the 8, might renew following year" .. can only go by my experiences.

I understand you have gone by your personal experience but don't label all our fans as "bandwagoners" when the statistics clearly prove otherwise. As for our presidents that you have mentioned I don't agree with some of their business decisions but I would take either of those two above others such as Ian Collins any day of the week. They both love our club with the best interests at heart which is more than many club presidents can claim.
BTW I hate Essendon more than Collingwood but this is due to your club being much more of a threat. Collingwood were a joke when I was growing up whilst Essendon were a power club and therefore I consider our rivalry greater in my lifetime.

Membership , impressive. Crowd figures, diabolical. It`s all very good answering the call, or hopping on when you win a wizard cup. Check out some of carltons crowds in the depth of winter/late in the season, weak as piss.

Perhaps not Merv, but I hate Collingwood with a passion, and I actually don't mind Essendon to be honest.
Perhaps it is becuase I grew up in one of those rare families where not everyone barracked for the same team:
Dad - St.Kilda
Mum & Sister - Essendon
Brother - Kangaroos
I really really disliked Collingwood, but the Eddie/Joffa combo pushed me to despising them.
(On a side note though, my favourite day at the footy still, and always will be the '99 Prelim) Sorry.

Not me.
I had to put up with my Mum and my Sister being smashed off their heads after about half time. They had to watch the replay (luckily for them, the sober Carlton supporter taped it for them) the next day, as neither of them could remember anything past 1/2 time.

Still can't get over how Carlton irrespective of their poor form manage to find new ways to get up when they play Essendon. This years comeback form 48 points down was a perfect example of that. Also last years comeback to draw.
