Hille and Laycock did 11'26 around Princes Park yesterday. So much for the "amazing" effort of Cameron Cloke (11'46"). And hate to bang on about a point but it puts Murphy (11'41") and Gibbs (12'03") to shame.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

First of all, time trials this early in the preseason often mean less than complete and utter bullshit. First run back, good to see the Essendon boys in shape, they need their fitness back ASAP to ensure they don't slide down the ladder.

Who would you prefer? Gibbs and Murphy, or Laycock and Hille? At the end of the day, these time trials will prove to be largely irrelevant. We knew that Gibbs wasn't fast anyway.

Way to make something out of a complete non-issue

im not fussed with this at all!! doesnt mean anything!

Callum Chambers and Ian Prendegast used to kill everyone in these time trials and that did a hell a lot of good.

its only the start of preseason, and dont forget Hille and Laycock are probably at there peak weight. they probably wont grow in mass that much anymore so they are used to running at there current weight.

Murphy and Gibbs would have had to put on a few kilos over preseason to bulk up which doesnt help especially when you have just put on a few extra kg's and start trying to run times like you did when you were 3 kgs lighter etc

definately nothing to worry about!!

You idiot. Winning premierships is not about how fast you can run around the ground in November!

It's about finding the ball and and being the best possible team players, those two hacks you mentioned are useless when it comes to actually playing the game.

Ridiculous post from a ridiculous poster....

Gibbs needs to be quicker than that. But it's never a bad thing to start off a preseason knowing the areas you need to lift.

Gibbs improved his 20 metre test by 0.2 this pre season, so I think it is fair to say he has improved.

Ridiculous post above though. Chambers was our fastest runner, does that him best of all?

Good effort by the two ruckmen in this time trial.
Hille is one of the better ruckmen in the league.
Laycock is barely AFL standard (not saying we have better ruckmen)

Cloke is more of a utility and IMHO will be more valuable to Carlton this year than Laycock will be to Essendon.
Murphy and Gibbs....GUNS.

See if this result means anything when these two are dominating football matches next year.

I also found that interesting, surely that should tell you something. Because it's telling me that Carlton arent putting the hard yards during the offbreak. Don't worry Windows, there are alot of one eyed Carlton supporters on this board, and they would jump at you like seaguls on bread crumbs if you pick up something bad about Carlton.

You can all give Stevens the benifit of the doubt but we all know he has ballloned. Jetta scraped a whole minute of his previous time trial, Monfries finished top 4 in the run, Houli looks much more trim then last year. For what its telling me, for Hille and Laycock, both pure ruckmen, beating Murphy and Gibbs is worrying me abit.

I know your going to bring up chambers and Prenda again, but at the end of the day if your pure midfielders should be a far more supiror runners then ruckmen and players need to be cautious of their weight over the break.

If only games were won and lost based on your ability to run around PP.

haha

if that was the case then we might as well see if we can put Craig Mottram on the rookie list!!!

How about you and Windows go and follow Essendon ?..after all they are much better runners in November than any of our players.
Why would you bother following such a lazy slow team as Carlton .

When reading your post, it makes you sound like as if we won the premership last year or going to win it next year. Essendon are doing the hard yards over the break and Carlton are not. It's like Judd is here, so everyone lets eat a couple of bags of nachos or lets not do the extra work because Judd is a gun.

Lets all take our rosey glasses off and admit there is a little problem there.

Gee top reply mate.

Just because we are realist doesn't mean we aren't true blue Carlton boys. Your one eyed as they get.

Re: Essendon.....

Well the reason why I respect Essendon so much, is that they have given my best mate a go. Love the Houli Dooolly, he will be a gun, I wish we picked him up .

It appears we have a closet bomber fan in our midst ;)

What is your point? Gosh mate you are a real goose. But yeh, whatever floats your boat.;)

I hear Judd's current time around PP isnt all that flash, he must be a dud.

u serious???

i think the blues made the wrong choice in picking him up!!!

:p:p

this is a joke thread!

and i thought my threads that i start are bad!! hehe

speed is overrated.

would you prefer Daniel Wells over Greg Williams?

It's a player's ability to find the ball and what they do with it not what you clock around Princess Park at the beginning of bloody cricket season!

The two big fellas at Esendon would need to post good times, they'd be on their last chance this year, surely.
