What's the reason for the change when the rest of the footy pages on TC are "open slather"?

I hate sites that require you to log in to read the pages.

Sites will become invitation only or run like Mighty Hawk if they're moving that way.

General, We are going to handle it this way between sites:

Between Big Footy, Talking Carlton and The Blue View, we will be posting the cut and paste as well as the link back to the original site. That way the reader can choose whether they want to remain on their preferred site or go to the site of origin. CSC have a different requirement in that we won't be cutting and pasting text, but simply pasting the link to the author and site of origin.

I hope that all makes sense.

Sorry mate, I always thought our Training threads were for registered members only. It was in discussions with our other mods about this issue that we realised it was open to general viewing. In part you need to register to encourage registrations to the site, of course, but also as a means of keeping the info within for Carlton eyes only. That said, we're happy for the info to be shared among the Carlton sites, so take that with a grain of salt I suppose.

If you want to chat further, just drop me a line camelboy -at- talkingcarlton -dot- com

Cheers camel

From the good Dr.SHERRIN over on Talking Carlton: Thanks Doc

http://www.talkingcarlton.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=641071#641071

Unfortunately I was only able to stay just over the hour but what I saw impressed me - particularly in the wet conditions. Some standard drills on display - focus on hitting a leading target by foot over 30 metres, running in numbers and protecting the ball carrier. Second one the boys have done in every session I've attended under Ratts...2 teams of 10 pitted against each other in limited space - goals at either end - handball only - idea being to take the game on...but you turn the ball over when tackled well.

Some observations from the stand...

Rehab group - Judd, Asaike, Hadley, AB, Walker, Murph

Denis Armfield - the guy doesn't miss a target - at least i haven't seen it..and along with Gibbs and AB is the best tackler in the side already. Looks like he belongs out there - will watch with interest to see how much pre-season takes it toll but so far so good.

Matthew Kruezer - a lot of arms and legs here - but he and Hammo can really run...Kruezer is quick across the ground but decision making a small worry...probably needs to use his first option at this stage rather than give the ball up. One thing he will learn is that those tackles he could break in the u-18's will stick in 2008.

Simon Wiggins - foot skills v.good this morning...looking fit.

Jake Edwards...marking really well and kicking through the ball well - gonna be tough to match up on and hopefully gets a chance to prove himself in the ones - at least the pre-season ones.

Heath Scotland / Stevo / Gibbs / Simmo - their foot skills a level above the others...that's about it - watching Judd run gives hope that he'll be out of the rehab group before too long and showing the others how it's done...now that will be exciting and i think raise the standard to another level - lets hope by that time Stevo gets out of the 'white t-shirt' as well.

2ND Post from Dr. SHERRIN:

Forgot to mention Aaron Joseph...quick is an understatement - likes to take them on and will annoy the hell out of the opposition...great skills by hand and will give the Bullants a real burst of speed next season - really looking forward to watching him in action.

WOW.....Now here's a beauty from Acudoc over on The Blue View. :D

Guys, Acudoc has been able to edit this clip and remove the effects. Have another look. Great work Doc! ;)

A small follow up from Dr.SHERRIN from TC about Saturday: Thanks Doc! :)

re- reading the post and i left out some things that have annoyed me a little over the last few training sessions. The tackling has been great and the assistant coaches have been impressed with the commitment to chase and tackle an opponent to the ground. But there's normally a couple of reasons why a player has been tackled and more often than not it's because his teammate hasn't warned him of the danger or no one has blocked / shepherded to protect the man with the ball. When Matthew Lappin continues to be the best blocker we have at training - something is a little amiss...hopefully with more ball work over summer and in the lead-up to the intra-club games this will be rectified. Perhaps David Teague is a little wasted working exclusively with the rehab group ? It's something that should be second nature to these guys by now (even the 18 year olds) - but at least we have coaches in Teague and Montgomery who will

Hey Guys,
We got a Training Report from Thursday 20th by Fevolution over on TC. Thanks Fevvy. :)

http://www.talkingcarlton.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19499

I went down today and at first was shit conditions but it dried up. Rehab group was juddy, hadley, blackwell, pfeffier, fish, bentick, about it i think. They played some handball games wit teague and lappin, one which involved them makin 40 handballs. Juddy just makes everythin look easy. Then the rehab group were in pairs and went for a kick, judd and aisake were togther as usual.

Now the main group, first drill was just a standard handball drill were two players would come off the cone and follow up their handball. Then was on to kickin drill were they had to kick to a cone and follow up. Fev, Stevo, Simmo and murph kickin skills are awesome, in particular fev and stevo, just didnt miss a target. Good to see ratts get into them when they did it wrong, ratts means business. Steve Mckee was down workin with the rucks, doin some ruckwork. Big kruezer looks the goods, his tap work is very good. Cloke looks in really good shape, setanta and gibbs have bulked up so look out for them next year. Fev has got his body in shape and looks good and massive.

All the players seem to be in good moods, spirits up. Scotland im impressed with, his a real leader in this team.

Not much of a report but i gave it my best. Spoke to fev afterwards and told him to have a good xmas, and told me the same which was the highlight of my day, my little xmas present.

A sterling piece from Danny Boy "The Ghost" mostly about Xmas, but a bit of Training news there as well: Thanks DB

Merry Christmas, can’t wait for the New Year!

Popped into the last training session and the Christmas spirit swelled in this old ghost ‘til I felt like that little boy taking a peek into the lounge room before mum and dad were up to see the gleaming blue bike waiting for me. It was mine! Blue and as shiny as a barn’s bright new heart!

That’s how it is at Carlton. Ratts and Braddles playing out in the middle while the boys stretch. Skinny the lark, skirting the ground as he runs, smile as big as the sun bursting through the clouds. And Teaguey. Teaguey’s voice dominates Princes Park. Inspired get by the club. I’d run through a brick wall for him and Ratts – well it’s easy as a ghost but you know what I mean!

So there was Judd….Um let me say that again to the sound of bells and whistles, a few jigs for Dad and a click of the Irish heart, so there was Judd… I will never get tired of that…so there was Judd with Fish and the other rehab boys handballing… Judd kicking with Aisake later on…Judd walking, talking…well yeah, my eyes were drawn to him. How can you put a price on hope?

Stevo trained without the danger singlet, he’s flat chat now and looking ready to explode.

Look, the boys trained well for the last session, Ratts and the coaches were full of energy and everything seemed to be aimed at helping the players make the right decisions. The players practise so under real pressure they will choose the best option.

I left feeling excited and peeved the new season is still so far away so I wrote this little song… (that’s a lie but it fitted in well with what I want to do next) and it goes a bit like this….

(with apologies to tommi and all Beatle fans)
So this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one hasn’t begun
And so this is Christmas
Next year will be fun
The Juddster and Stevens
The old and the young
{Refrain}
A very merry Christmas
Can’t wait for next year
It will be a good one
With plenty to cheer

And so this is Christmas The wait is over
for Brisbane and Geelong Watch us lift
For the Roos and other poor ones the wait is over
The road is so long Bluebaggers!
And so happy Christmas The wait is over
For black and for white Watch us lift
For red and black ones The wait is over
Can’t wait to renew the fight Old dark Navies!

And so this is Christmas The wait is over
Look what we have done Watch us lift
Another year over The wait is over
And a new one has not begun Bluebaggers
And so happy Christmas The wait is over
Next year will be fun watch us lift
With Dick and Swann the wait is over
The old and the young Old Dark Navies
The wait is over watch us lift
The wait is over Bluebaggers!

Merry Christmas everyone

The boys are back training on the 3rd of Jan at 9am, then backing it up with a session on the 5th also at 9am

Training Report 3/1/2008

by EBIAC

The sessions started with the main group going through the usual jogging and stretches up and down the field, until stopping at the Legends stand end, where they continued stretching and ran a few basic relays They then partook in a kick-to-kick with a partner.

The injury group started the day with Coach Teague leading Brad Fisher, Andrew Carrazzo and Luke Blackwell through some handball drills. Andrew Walker stood aside as he comes back from shoulder surgery, and his job for the day was to pull a 20kg weight that trailed behind him that was strapped to his abdomen around the field.

The main group then moved onto a handball drill which consisted of four lines of players in a pentagon style formation (Hard to explain!). The communication was excellent, as the were over below the Sam Smorgon Scoreboard while I was near the Heatley Stand. The next drill was the same as the previous one, accept the players split into two groups, and the distance between each side of the pentagon was increased.

The injury groups next drill was to do with ball reflexes. Fisher, Blackwell and Carrazzo all stood in a line infront of Teague, who kicked the ball to various places near where they were standing. It involved no running, just hand reflex skills. Before long, the distance between the group and Teague increased, and so did the speed Teague was kicking at.

The main group then four seperate lines with one half of each line walking a short kick's distance away from the other half so that the boys could run though some marking/ directive chipping drills. The injury group looked on whilst stretching, and as Walker made his way around from his third lap, he was sweating like a waterfall.

While the injury group then ran timed sprints from the Heatley Stand end goal posts, around to the Legend Stand end goal posts, Walker was finally released from the weight after completing his fourth lap whilst being timed. He commented after completion "I know how Santa feels now." He looks in superb shape.

Aisake O'hAilping, Richard Hadley, Chris Judd and someone who honestly I didn't know who they were (Sorry! One of the new kids) broke from the main group and joined with the injurt group to do some short distance sprints/jogs at the Heatley end. Meanwhile, the main group split into four small groups and took part in a free kicking/leading drill with their group. They were soon called in and broke from the pack running the same drill, accept this time, they were allowed to use handballs.

The injury group split from the small group of players that had joined them and resumed goal post to goal post timed sprints. The main group had now started up a new drill, inwhich there were two groups. From each group, two were wearing sashes. Those wearing the sashes had to stop the five players trying to return the ball to the man who kicked it, standing approximately 25 metres away.

The small group that had broken away from the main group (I'll just refer to them as the special group from now on) started up a drill where three players stood around one player in the middle. The had the choice of either quickly handpassing the ball to him, or fake handpassing it to someone else. I thought it was one of the most effective drills on the day, as it's a really sneaky technique that comes in handy. They then stretched.

The main groupp walked over to beneath the Sam Smorgon scoreboard and partook in some stretched before walking to the centre of the group and breaking into two groups, on at each end of the group, and a few from each group in the middle (Backline, forwardline and midfield). The ball started at one end (the backline), and their goal was to work with their team mates to get the ball to the other end. As soon as the ball reached the other end, that end became the backline, and used their team mates to get it up the other end, so on and so forth. Judd re-joined from the special group to partake in the drill.

The special group, at the Heatley end took in turns running, laying full front bodied on the ground before jumping up and tackling the boxing style bag before walking laps with the injury group, plus a few other hand picked players from the main group (I couldn't make out who they were from the distance).

Other than a few of the players who stood chatting with the coaching staff in the middle of the ground, the group walked two slow laps, also stopping for quick stretch breaks, before coming over to the Heatley end and signing autographs. The teams day didn't end there though. As I was leaving, I saw the boys running around Princes Park. I'm not too sure what happened from there onwards.

Waite looked very good, despite a cut upon his eye, but far from the fracture the media made it out to be.

Judd's first session with the main group was great. I could hardly pick him out, as he blends in with the rest of the side so well now.

Sorry everyone for my lack of detail, and my tendancy to do very poorly at write ups:).

brilliant.
Thank you:). It was freakin' hard to write with the 15 year old girls both next to me and behind me trying to find Marc Murphy, trying to tag the fences and screaming at the top of their lungs.
