And what a great game and year that was .What a riduculous statement. Even so, at least we've been in a GF recently. 1982 is a very very long long time ago.![]()
And what a great game and year that was .
Hmmm . I think you may be right there Dramoth . HAHAHA you bloody bluety . not to mention the other 5 we played off in since then too ! And didn't we run over a bunch of kittens along the way ? Oh we did , but they weren't of the tiger variety !And who was the team that beat Bitchmond that year... could it have been a team winning their third grand final in 4 years and a consequetive grand final...
Gosh, wonder what team that was... from memory, they wear a single color... navy blue I think![]()
Just as well we picked up more than 1 player then . Also try reading through our theads again and actually take in what the general blues population are writing . Like every other team , we hope to make the finals but that is not the expectation . Most supporters seem to be looking around 12th .Carlton have potential, and that is that....
the line up isnt too different to what it has been in previous year.. .the inclusion of one player doesnt mean that you guys will succeed...
Infact, last season, it wasnt until about rd 14 or so that i believed we were a genuine chance to make finals....
It is good to have confidence, hwoever, if you keep going on about it too early, many opposition fans will get tired of it, and turn them on you

A lot of things would have to go very right for you to even scrape into the finals IMO. But then again a lot stranger things have happened. You would need a near injury free year, Murphy to explode, Gibbs to almost explode, Judd to not miss a beat after changing clubs, Stevens to not miss a beat coming back from injury, Fevola to have another good year and the defence to seriously step up, Thornton needs to have a career best season and/or 2 or 3 young players need to solidify spots in the backline not to mention you want Simpson and Carazzo to replicate their great form. Too many variables.
These things can happen Jabso . I think Simpson and Carrazzo will replicate their form as well and possibly be more damaging if the other scenarios you mentioned occur . Murphy does seem set to explode , so hopefully he does while with Gibbs , we'll just have to wait and see .A lot of things would have to go very right for you to even scrape into the finals IMO. I agree there are "too many variables" in terms of predicting where they'll finish in 2008. So many changes have taken place over the past 12 months of so, and the addition of a new coach, new coaching support team, return of Judd and Stevens, plus the inclusion of another wave of draft talent, plus anticipated progress of existing top-shelf talent, make the prediction process for 2008 difficult. But that is not the point. The point is not where we'll finish in 2008 - which BTW could be anywhere from 10th to 5th. The point is getting the whole player group and team moving forward and developing. The aim is build a team to win flags, and this not only requires talent - which we now have in bucketloads - but a burning desire, consistency, discipline, a cutting-edge gameplan, and excellent off-field support. We have the components now, the challenge is to get the whole group moving forward as a team.![]()
