I grew up in Fitzroy, been a Royboy ever since. The Demons were my second AFL team before the end of '96, but I left the AFL for a long while after that.

Been a decent last 3 years for the Roys too - back on the field, already won one promotion, pushing towards a second. And membership's building again. Was 1100 in '09, now I'm sure we're over 2000.

Our win over Freo in Round 8 of '96 is still the best as far as I'm concerned - an act of sheer defiance at the end of the AFL's 12-year war on us. Under Oakley & Samuel, helped by reptiles like Ian Collins, they certainly forced us out any way they could.

My other two favourite games are the Demons wins over Freo & Brisbane in '08, with Aussie inspirational in both- I became an MFC member after that.

All three games are etched in my brain...
