    Looking at the average and strike-rate isnt really comparable given the drastic inflation that has happened to both in the ODI game over the last 10 to 15 years (debatable if this is down to poorer bowlers, flatter wickets, or T20 inspired batting) In ODIs Maxwell is good.     I'm too lazy to figure out first class, but for Shield ducks of currently active players Bancroft (16) is 6th behind Henriques (20), Bird(19) , Abbott(18), Lyon(17) and Silk (17). Surprised Whiteman isnt featured in that list really.

    And we havent really picked up any defenders. With TB, Jones and likely Rotham out and (IMO now unlikely) Witherden as well this leaves the already thin defensive stocks near critical. Maybe Baker can play a back flank, but that's just duplicating Duggan.
