AFL pundit world is a hot take machine on a seven-day news cycle. Personally I'm happy we're not being talked about much. We're terrible frontrunners, much better as underdogs.
There's always room.
We are strong favourites, I guess because of Gold Coast's flakey past rather than huge confidence in Sydney. The result will tell if we're contenders or pretenders.
Imagine if this happened today. There'd be 85 million hot takes, Kane condemning the AFL for getting it wrong, the AFL hastily updatijng its fruit protocols, Kane condemning the AFL for over-reacting, etcetera. Simpler times back then.

David King brings the stats and unabashed enthusiasm for the Swans.
He predicts we will eclipse our biggest winning margin at the G this century (68 points).
"I'm going for the Swans to get hold of Richmond."

Not to make light of it but I'm sure for a lot Sydney people hearing the news the response is
don't buy drugs at the Clovelly
the Sydney Swans have a women's team.
It's far and away the most publicity our AFLW side has ever had -- eg, it was the no.1 story on the SMH site for half a day, no...
