I think it was a few years ago when I realised that this marking was only good when coming in from the side rather than when a defender was on his hammer that made me realise this guy isn't quite good enough to be an AFL level key forward. On the wing his kicking is exposed for lack of damage... -

AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas - undropped 😱
I don't see it with Tsatas and I don't think it was Brad Scott's fault. His kicking was poor, his defensive accountability is poor and he could only really play one role at an AFL level which was inside mid. But there is still time for him to turn it around somewhat but I'd say the odds are... -

AFL Player 18: Lewis Hayes - Sprained his ACL again on return… no surgery required, out for the season - 4/6
This was pretty good news. I mean sure this season is screwed but at least he has a chance for a clean slate at next season - which wasn't going to happen if he'd properly done his ACL and needed surgery. -

There's definitely not if you consider the teams that have got it in the past like Melbourne, North, Eagles etc. By the time you get to the point you need to ask for assistance you have to have self sabotaged a fair bit. -

I doubt we would go Hird again... I'm not really that knowledgeable about coaching candidates but I'd prefer an untried guy that's been in development like an Enright hopefully backed up with an experienced director of coaching to assist for the first few years would be my ideal. That said if... -

AFL Player 26: Archer May - Dislocated shoulder vs WC (to go with the broken rib and kidney injury) - 31/5
He's been a pleasant surprise packet for me. Makes the most of his chances at goal and can take some great grabs. His tackling has been better than expected. AFL Player 11: Jade Gresham
Yikes he was so, so bad. Think he'll get dropped despite 4 injuries. When you consider his last senior game prior to this he only had 2 kicks. His only chance to come back is even more injuries (which knowing us should only take a week or two). -

I'm pretty fine with the team we have named. Like sure you could play Nguyen and Hussein instead of Gresham and Guelfi but both still can probably gain a lot just by playing forward in the VFL to develop their craft a bit more. They'll get regular tastes of AFL throughout the season anyway I... -

Game Day Round 10: Essendon vs Fremantle, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Sunday 17/05/26 @ 1:10 PM AEST
I really miss having 2-3 dangerous small forwards. At least Kako will be back in the medium term and I have high hopes for El-Achkar but yeah its a bit disappointing seeing team lineups with no real crumbing small forwards named (no disrespect to Nguyen who I like but still has a ways to go). -

If we have players who are really struggling I'd consider resting them this week. Nobody is going to remember if we lose to Freo by 10 goals or 12 goals but they'll definitely remember if we lose to Richmond next week. -
