    Absolutely. As I said, it wouldn’t surprise me if they expected more to answer the call to arms than actually did. Connection to club counts for something, but Div4 isn’t very appealing to those playing in higher divisions

    Except having lots of Juniors but few who have progressed to Senior footy doesn’t help you much. Doncaster had a pretty decent junior program not too long ago and must have a lot of former juniors still running around across metro Melbourne leagues. I’m guessing they thought they would attract...

    The League has to operate within its own bylaws. It can't choose to promote / relegate. Doncaster withdrawing on the eve of the season locked in Div1's "relegation" for 2025. Uncompetitive clubs can ask to be dropped to a lower division. I guess Norwood prefers to stay in Div1 and wear the losses.
